You must leave the key in the ignition on the "run position" for 15 minites until the theft light stops flashing then you are able to start the car (if you try to start the car before that you will have to start the time and process over again). If you have a aftermarket alarm in the vehicle you must disable the stock alarm through your dealer. if that is not the situation i would check the starter, wireing on the starter and or battery.

Scanning the computer will list a fault code that will help to narrow down the problem. EST is, Electronic Spark Timing. I have a 97' Chevy Cavalier, and my check engine light comes on every once and a while. When it does come on the ETS OFF light also comes on...did you mean the ETS OFF light? or the EST OFF light? ETS OFF means the Enhanced Traction System. I took my car to Autozone and had them read the computer and it had something to do with a misfiring sparkplug, I replaced the sparkplugs and now everything is fine.
The 2002 Chevy Cavalier has a sealed transmission. On the front of the transmission there is a 11mm bolt that sticks out from the side. Loosen it, if ATF comes out, it's full, if not, take that cap back off and add some more until it comes out of the check plug (it's very easy to miss! look carefully, driver side, 11mm bolt protruding from side)
