It all depends on how you define "wireless internet". If you are talking about 802.11 wireless for the systems in your home then yes, you need an internet connection of some sort for the wireless access point to connect to the internet. This could be cable, DSL, or even satellite (which is not technically a landline). However if you have one of the wireless broadband cards from Verizon, AT&T, or other providers then that would be all you need.
