There is a little circuit board on the back of the cluster that runs the tach, It is the usual cause of a non working tach. The ticking noise could be a loose timing chain.

Why is your 2000 Chrysler minivan engine still ticking after the timing belt was changed?

ticking sound in engine is usually not caused by a timing belt ticking is usually caused by worn cam shaft or clifters most cars now have hydraulic lifters. if oil is low it will cause ticking. if a lifter is worn it will cause ticking these should have been ckecked for wear when replacing timing belt

1999 Dodge Dakota problem with the engine sticking when accelerating have changed sparkplugs wires distributor cap and speed sensor dont know what else it could be?

you mean ticking, right? Had the same problem with my 97 with the 3.9. It was an exhaust leak between exhaust manifold & head. New gaskets fixed the problem.

Take it to a professional and have the valve lash adjusted. Also replace the spark plugs.

Constant tick in the engine of 1997 Elantra Have already changed the timing belt?

If the ticking is coming from the top of the engine it is likely the Hydraulic (valve) Lash Adjusters.A fresh oil change using a quality oil and ***an OEM filter from the dealership*** should clear the noise up within 15 minutes of driving.Use of a non-OEM filter can cause valve train ticking noise.

1994 Plymouth voyager makes a ticking noise from the time it starts until you turn it off What is the problem and how can you fix it?

The ticking noise could be worn out rocker arms under valve covers. Switch to heavier weight oil if ticking noise subsides that could be your problem. This is usually a sign of a high mileage engine. Worst case scenario would be weak oil pump not getting oil to top of heads.

What might be the problem if you thought it was the hazard switch changed it and new switch makes same ticking sound?

Please give us more info. Sometimes that's normal-there is thermal and mechanical. Sounds like you have a thermal-try other type since they are cheap.

What is that annoying ticking noise mustangs make when you change the oil?

The ticking sound is coming from the valve lifters. When the oil filter is changed, air is introduced into the system, which causes air bubbles to form in the oil. This causes the valve lifters to "leak down", which is what causes the ticking sound. It can take several days for the bubbles to dissipate. It's annoying, but harmless.

No. The word ticking is a verb form, or a noun, or an adjective (ticking clock). But it is not used as an adverb.

Sounds like a loose tappet in the header, though I'm just a back yard mechanic.
