yes that is my question
Master Cylinder or Slave cylinder have gone bad and needs to be replaced. They have a diaphragm inside them the help make vacuum and if this diaphragm does not work properly it can cause your symptoms.
No, but I would. If you don't it will probably go out soon. If you are changing them on your own I may not change it, no need to until it gives you a problem. When I used to work shops I always requested the customer change them both at the same time to prevent come backs or unhappy customers. If you do the work yourself just change them as you need them.
The primary difference between a master and a slave cylinder is which one make the other one work. We operate the master cylinder to make the slave cylinder work. The master cylinder on a hydraulic clutch is actuated by pushing on the clutch pedal. The hydraulic pressure then makes the clutch slave cylinder move and it pushes out to give the throw-out arm a shove. This will disengage the clutch from the flywheel (by actuating the pressure plate). the master cylinder is on the fire wall its the main one, when you push on the brake pedal down it pushes on a rod in the master sylinder. the wheel cylinders (slave) are on the dram drums. they push the brake shoes to the drum
remove the 2 13mm nuts that hold it on then push in and turn 90 degrees counter clockwise IT pops out ....careful not to drop the rod into the bellhousing -------------------------------- +1^^ ALso, be careful when the slave cylinder is out. Tigh it up out of the way if your doing work on the transmission and do not touch the clutch pedal at all. Many people have ruined the hydrualics by not doing this.
did you bleed it? try raising it from the differential to get a good bleed on your clutch. and if that doesn't work make sure the rod from the pedal to the actual master cylinder is screwed on. if it isn't, ur jsut kicking a pedal.
Remove slave and master cylinder from vehicle. Have someone stand on ladder holding master cylinder. Have someone work slave cylinder back and forth to force air out of system.
The shaft seal will leak or not work when the system has been properly bled.
You need to bleed the system like you would a brake system. This requires a friend (or you can buy a bleeding system). Have you friend press and hold the clutch down. Release the bleed bolt on the slave cylinder and air should come out. Tighten the bleed bolt. Have you friend pump the clutch a few times and hold it down. Release the bleed bolt and air with some fluid should come out. Tighten the bleed bolt. Continue this process until no air comes out and just fluid from the bleed bolt on the slave cylinder.
this can be a problem, first you have to press the pedal about an inch do this several times, wait about an hour do it again.....if this doesn't work,it has to be power bled. you transmission shop can do it for you..... I had the same problem. The problem is the cylinder slants down toward the front and that is where the reservior and line connect. There is no good way to get all the air out while mounted to the firewall. Solution: unbolt from firewall with lines and reservoir attached. Tip the cylinder up in the front and use a vacuum bleeder at the slave cylinder.
I am assuming that you are talking about the clutch slave cylinder. It really is pretty straight forward. Remove the driveshafts, transfer case and the transmission. The slave cylinder is attached to the front of the transmission. Remove it and replace it. My advice is when you do this replace the clutch disk while you have this all apart especilly if the slave cylinder has been leaking because this will ruin the disk rapidly even if it looks good replace it trust me it is a lot of work and you won't want to do it again
ya it should work the only difference is slave cylinder mounting location you may need to replace the line going to the slave cylinder you may also need to fabricate a mounting bracket you may have to change the bellhousing and through out bearing fork
If you've changed the slave cylinder and bled it several times, the next step would be to check the MASTER cylinder and if that doesn't work then your clutch is burned out.
