Hello: I am doing a overhaul on my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant. I inadvertently moved the crankcase while trying to remove the small timing belt while the larger timing belt was off. Knowing that, I would like to know is there a procedure to follow to correct this?
Assuming you have the 2.5 engine, the water pump is driven off the timing belt.
A Galant has timing belts, normally the belts break if they have not been serviced. As for as jumping time they belt may stretch causing it to run bad or not to run at all. Pull the cover off of the timing belt and check the timing using the timing marks. If they are off your car is out of time.
My 2002 galant has a reverse flow system. The thermostat housing is in the radiator bottom hose. I had to take off the battery base to get to it.
wen I stop at a red light my Mitsubishi galant sound like it is try to stop running
with a punch and a hammer
try turning the switch off
Leave the key in the "on" position for about an hour.
on my '95 galant, the fuse block is under the dash to the left in the driver's compartment just forward of the kick panel. it has a snap-off plastic cover.
To replace the water pump you are going to have to go down past the timing belt. if you dont feel comfortable replacing the timing belt then you would be better off leting a pro handle it. the reason i say that is cause if the timing belt is reinstalled incorrectly it could cause major engine damage (bend the valves)
The cover will pop off pretty easily, then you take off the mounting nuts, then you can unplug the tweeter.
check high/low beam relay and switch
You cannot turn off the Daytime running lights on a Mitsubishi Galant without cutting the wire. This is because the car is set up to have these lights on at all times during operation.
