Don't laugh: wait. If it was truly "water" it probably wet your distributor and when it dries out it'll start and dry itself further when you drive it, although it may be a little "sputtery" for a little while. If you get it started, DON'T TURN IT OFF til it stops sputtering. This advice based on driving a car through standing water and accidentally learning the hard way. If you got ANTIFREEZE all over your engine, you may run into additional problems (corrosion??) that I'm not really qualified to help with. Good luck!
Take off the radiator cap while cool. Open the radiator and start to drain into a bucket. Use water hose to run water into the radiator until the water drains clear.
Best guess, without more information, is that you have an electric radiator fan. These are operated by the temperature of the water in your engine block and don't necessarily start or stop with the engine.
the engine will overheat!for a start ,and the dash water temperature light will come on!there will be steam coming from the radiator...
It is my guess that it is the water pump. There are no hoses connected to the water pump, so check the two rad hoses and if they are dry, it is likely the water pump. It could also be the head gasket or (unlikley) even the head)
An easy way to flush a radiator is to remove the bottom hose from the radiator, and put a garden hose in the top fill hole, turn the water on, on the garden hose and let the water push the water out of the radiator. Do not start the truck. This is for flushing a radiator, not an engine. Dont forget to reattatch the bottom hose and refill the radiator as water will also flow out of the engine and will now be low.
You have to drain the radiator and remove the transmission lines then remove the radiator itself after you losen the fan shroud. After that remove everything bolted to the water pump which is located right in the center bolted to the fan. Yes, you have to remove the fan as well as the lower radiator hose, then you can remove the bolts holding the water pump in place. After that all you have to do is replace the old pump with the new, using a new gasket. Then reverse everything you did to get to the water pump and put everything back together again.
take radiator cap off, make sure radiator is full, start the engine let it water circulate for awhile and then open radiator drain slightly just enough to get water and air to come out, drain is located under the radiator. Careful not to burn your hand.Turn off radiator drain and replace radiator cap.
after 15 minutes when i start my car water start leaking apparently hoses radiator look fine
Low coolant?Cooling fan not working?Radiator air flow restricted?Radiator clogged?Water pump not working properly?Radiator cap defective?
there is supposed to be water in the radiator. your radiator is supposed to be evenly mix 50/50 with radiator fluid and water, preferably distilled water.
Coolant flows into the water pump from the lower radiator hose. The water pump circulates the water through the internal water passages in the engine as well as the heater core. Coolant exits through the water outlet into the upper radiator hose and on into the radiator to start the process over.
all you have to do is run water hoes in the hood of your car and start it why the water is running in to it =)
