West Street subway station was created in 1896.
Take the Downtown 6 train (of the 4-5-6, the dark green line) from 68th Street-Hunter College (at Lexington Avenue) to 51st Street or 42nd Street-Grand Central Station. Then walk 1 block west to Park Avenue, and 5 blocks south or 4 blocks north to 46th Street.
Depends on how far east you are and how far west you want to go.Your best bet is probably to walk west to 28th and broadway, and catch the N or R to 57th St/7th Ave.if you dont want to walk a few blocks, then you'll have to take a downtown 6 train to 14th street Union Square and transfer to an uptown N Q or R train to 57th St/7th Ave.You could also take the Uptown 6 (of the 4-5-6, the dark green line) from 28th Street (at Park Avenue South) to 51st Street, and transfer at 51st Street to the Downtown E(of the A-C-E, the blue line). The 51st Street Station on the 6 is connected to the 53rd Street-Lexington Avenue Station on the E.Take the Downtown E to 50th Street, and transfer at 50th Street to the Uptown C, one stop, to 59th Street-Columbus Circle (at 8th Avenue).
The address 198 East 76th Street is at the corner of 3rd Avenue. Take the Downtown 6 train (of the 4-5-6, the dark green line) from 77th Street (at Lexington Avenue, which is one block west of 3rd Avenue) to 51st Street. The 51st Street Station on the 6 train is connected to the Lexington Avenue-53rd Street Station on the E train (of the A-C-E, the blue line) and the M train (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line), so you can transfer without exiting the subway system.Transfer to the Downtown E train, and take the Downtown E from Lexington Avenue-53rd Street to 34th Street-Penn Station.
You have two options:1) Take the Uptown A train (of the A-C-E, the blue line) from 34th Street-Penn Station to 125th Street. You could also take the C train, but it is a local train, so there are many stops from 34th Street to 125th Street. It's only 3 stops on the A train: 34th Street-Penn Station ---> 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal ---> 59th Street-Columbus Circle ---> 125th Street. You will exit the subway at 125th Street and St. Nicolas Avenue. From there, it's just one and a half blocks east to the Apollo Theatre, which is at 125th Street between Frederick Douglass Boulevard and 7th Avenue.2) Take the 2 or 3 trains (of the 1-2-3, the red line) from 34th Street-Penn Station to 125th Street (you could also take the 1 train, but again, the 1 is local, while the 2 and 3 are express). You will exit the subway at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue. From there, it's one and a half blocks west to the Apollo Theatre, which is at 125th Street between Frederick Douglass Boulevard and 7th Avenue. As for which option to choose: it doesn't matter that much. There are more stops on the 2 and 3 than on the A. As I said, on the A train, it's only 3 stops from 34th Street to 125th Street. On the 2 and 3, it's 6 stops: 34th Street-Penn Station ---> 42nd Street-Times Square ---> 72nd Street ---> 96th Street ---> 110th Street-Central Park North ---> 116th Street ---> 125th Street. So, since it's 3 stops on the A and 6 stops on the 2 and 3, it seems to make more sense to take the A. However, the A train runs ridiculously slowly sometimes. I have no idea why, but sometimes it runs maddeningly slowly. Like, I could walk faster than it goes, sometimes. If you're traveling during mid-day (say, 10 AM to 5 PM) then I'd take the 2 or 3, since mid-day seems to be when the A runs the slowest. During any other time, I would take the A.
The address 25 Hudson Street is between Duane and Reade Streets (home of the original location of Duane Reade pharmacies). To get there from West 51st Street in the Theatre District, take the Downtown 1 train (of the 1-2-3, the red line) from 50th Street and 7th Avenue to Chambers Street. If you want, you can transfer at 42nd Street (the Times Square Station) for the Downtown 2 or 3 trains. The 2and 3 are express trains. On the 2 and 3trains, it's only 2 stops from 42nd to Chambers Street: 42nd Street ---> 14th Street ---> Chambers Street. The 1 is a local train, so there are like, over a dozen stops from 42nd to Chambers on the 1. The 2 and 3 don't stop at 50th Street, so you'd have to take the Downtown 1 one stop to 42nd, and then transfer to the Downtown 2 or 3 to Chambers Street. When you get off the subway, you will be at the 3-way intersection of Chambers, West Broadway, and Hudson. Chambers runs east/west, and West Broadway and Hudson run north/south. Follow Hudson Street Uptown for 1.5 blocks: Chambers Street ---> Reade Street ---> Duane Street.Your destination (Ninja New York) is pretty much exactly halfway between Reade and Duane Streets, on the left (west) side of the street.See the Related Link below for a complete New York City subway map.
This is the best route that I can find: take the Uptown Bor D (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line) from Grand Street (at Chrystie Street) to West 4th Street.Transfer at West 4th Street to the Uptown E (of the A-C-E, the blue line), and take the E to 53rd Street-Lexington Avenue (which is the last stop in Manhattan on the Uptown E before it goes to Queens).Free transfer is available between the 53rd Street-Lexington Avenue Station on the E train and the 51st Street Station on the 6 train, of the 4-5-6, the dark green line (as opposed to the light green line, which is the G train, the only subway line that does not run in Manhattan).Take the Uptown 6 from 51st Street to either 86th Street or 96th Street (at Lexington Avenue), depending on whether you want to walk 5 blocks uptown or 5 blocks downtown. The address 9 East 91st Street is between 5th and Madison Avenues. Madison Avenue is 2 avenue blocks west of Lexington. Park Avenue is between them.
The closest subway stations are the 5th Avenue-53rd Street station on the E train (of the A-C-E, the blue line) and M train (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line), the 5th Avenue-59th Street station on the N-R-Q (the yellow line), and the 51st Street station (at Lexington Avenue) on the 6 train (of the 4-5-6, the dark green line).Lexington is 2 blocks east of Madison, and 5th is 1 block west of Madison.
It's about 1 mile, maybe a little less. It is essentially 17 blocks straight north from Penn Station to 222 West 51st Street. In New York City, approximately 17 to 20 street blocks (north/south blocks) equals a mile, and approximately 5 to 10 avenue blocks (east/west blocks) equals a mile (the length of the avenue blocks varies considerably, depending on what neighborhood you're in. In Midtown, it's about 10 avenue blocks to a mile, but there are some avenue blocks on the Upper West Side that are close to half a mile long). Penn Station is located at 33rd - 34th Street, from 8th to 7th Avenues. The address 222 West 51st Street is between 8th Avenue and Broadway. Broadway runs in a diagonal line north/south through the city. Except for Lower Manhattan, the streets in Manhattan are arranged on a grid pattern, where each block is a little rectangle. So, at 51st Street, Broadway actually cuts between 8th and 7th Avenue. If Broadway were not there, then 222 West 51st Street would be between 8th and 7th Avenues. But since Broadway cuts between them, 222 West 51st Street is between 8th Avenue and Broadway, not 8th Avenue and 7th Avenue. My point is, even though 222 West 51st Street is between 8th Avenue and Broadway, not 8th Avenue and 7th Avenue, it is still essentially directly north of Penn Station. When you exit Penn Station (at either 8th or 7th Avenue, depending on which exit you use) you just need to travel straight north to 51st Street. Then, make a right turn (if you're coming up 8th Avenue) or a left turn (if you're coming up 7th Avenue) onto 51st Street. If you're coming up 8th, you'll take a right turn onto 51st, and your destination will be just a little bit down the block, between 8th and Broadway. If you're coming up 7th, you'll make a left turn onto 51st. When you get to Broadway, cross it, and your destination will be just ahead, between Broadway and 8th.
Take the Downtown A-C-E (the blue line) from 34th Street-Penn Station to West 4th Street (doesn't matter which you take, the A, C or E). Transfer at West 4th Street to the Downtown F train (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line) to East Broadway. You'll exit the subway at or near the corner of East Broadway and Rutgers Street. Walk one block south on Rutgers Street to Henry Street.
It's about 1 mile, maybe a little less. It is essentially 17 blocks straight north from Penn Station to the Gershwin Theatre, which is located at 222 West 51st Street. Assuming you meant "6th Avenue and 45th Street": the easiest way would be to take the Uptown 1, 2, or 3 trains (the red line) ONE STOP from Penn Station/West 34th Street to Times Square/West 42nd Street. You will exit the subway at around 7th Avenue and 42nd Street. Walk north 3 blocks to West 45th Street. Then turn right, and walk one block east to 6th Avenue.
