To change the oil dipstick assembly on a 2000 Ford Ranger with a 4-cylinder engine, first ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the dipstick from the tube, then locate the retaining bolt or clip that secures the dipstick tube to the engine block and remove it. Carefully pull the dipstick tube out of the engine, and then install the new dipstick assembly by reversing the process, ensuring it's properly seated and secured before reconnecting the battery. Always check the oil level after installation.
