To replace the license plate lamps, do this (all of this is done from outside of the car): 1. Open the trunk lid so you'll have easier access to the license plate area. 2. Using a philips-type screwdriver, remove the lenses from the two lamp areas above the license plate. You'll probably need to pry them loose, but carefully. (BTW, now's a good time to clean them, right? Sure!) 3. Pry the bulbs from their sockets, replacing both of them. 4. Replace both lamp socket lenses. Done! (I've done this, and it really is this simple...)

I finaly found out how to replace these license plate lamps. I open the trunck, removed all the 15 screw that retain the big brown plastic panel. Then remove the panel and remove the center stop light (3 mores screw). Finaly, remove directly the bulb housing by the rear by unscrewing them with the hand. And remove the bulb from the housing.

It is very easy to change the license plate light on an Oldsmobile Aurora. All you need to do is remove the license plate and look above where the plate was. There are bolts that are holding the light in. Unscrew the bolts and then replace the light.
