Are you getting fuel? If you are, does it have enough pressure? Sounds like maybe a fuel pump going out or a really clogged up fuel filter. Also, if you getting enough fuel, maybe you have a bad crankshaft position sensor or ignition coil. Good Luck!!!
pull the hose off the top of fuel filter see if your getting fuel if not try the bottom hose if no fuel it the pump or relay check your fuel cut off in the trunk and make sure you have somthing to catch the fuel you will need a friend for this and also the crank sensor is in the distributer so unless you bought it used and also i would try a new coil but check your grounds near the thermostat its under the distributer
Chances are the battery cable ends needs tightened or replaced. Or you need a new battery, or you may need a new starter, or you may need a new alternator. I started with the most simple things first.
Could be a short in the wiring of the actual starter motor!! The starter motor is the first piece of electrical equipment after the battery.
Hi, Could be the fuel pump if it just started or the fuse or relay. Steve H.
Usually this means the battery is worn out and there isn't enough charge to turn over the starter
crank sensor
Usually the O-ring gasket for the Distributor leaks on these engines..look at the base of the distributor.. it usually trickles from there. the fix is pretty easy. it is one o-ring gasket that can be replaced by pulling the distributor. The alternator is not charging the battery, therefore, the coil is getting it's charge only from the battery.
make sure the small wire is hook to the post
It sounds like you have a break in the wire which connects your alternator to your battery, get it checked out.
Make sure the contact points on the little black chip in key are clean and ensure the chip is centered in the key. If security light goes on you must wait a few minutes for it to go off before attempting to start car again.
Battery is dead?
i have had this problem and thought it may be electical, so i replaced the battery and the distributor cap and for a few weeks the car was fine then all of a sudden it has started it again, i have tried raising the idol and this hasn't helped either, all i can think of now is fuel pump....see where i go from here....
Make sure the battery cables are making good contact with the battery and are clean and tight.
Check your distributor cap. Mine was cracked and every time it rained the car wouldn't start. We replaced it and the car started every time. I don't think it's a good idea to wet down your engine, though.
i had this happen once on an 03 dodge minivan. the alternator went bad and the battery was going dead but had enough power to get the engine started. once i replaced the alternator and charged the battery the gauges worked again. good luck!

I had the same problem on my '96 golf mk 3, it can be either a) not making contact on battery terminals or b) the battery needs to be replaced... Hope it helps 1) new battery may be the needed if its not solved, check the fuses (couple need be replaced) ,i did that started working.
