After replacing the starter on your 1994 Grand Cherokee Laredo it will crank right up and then die even while giving it gas. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

How do you replace a starter solenoid in an 1998 Chevy Cavalier?
Disconnect battery. You will need two wrenches to disconnect the battery. One to secure the bolt, and the other to undo the nut on the other end. You will need a half inch wrench to undo the battery. The starter itself is on the underside of the truck. It is in the center front of the truck, a bit toward the passenger side of the truck. It is a black cylinder, about 6inches long. You will need to get under the truck to access it. Since the starter is next to other components, plan on using your socket wrench to undo the bolts. The starter is mounted with 2 bolts, remove them. (Some are mounted with 3 bolts - the third is hidden on the top of the starter. You will know if it has a third because it won't slide out easily.) Remove Positive wire from solinoid. Remove red wire with plastic black end by simply pulling on it. Starter is out! Take the old starter to the autoparts store with you when you buy the new starter. The parts store will give you a significant discount on the new part in exchange for returning the old starter.

Sounds like bad battery connections, clean and tighten them and try again. Have the battery checked if no luck ++ Loose connections ++ This just happened to my laguna. The two connections giving power to the starter motor were loose. Couple of quick turns and it fired up first time. Took an hour to get to it as it's buried deep in the engine.

There are two reasons a car wont start. Either it doesn't have fuel, or it doesn't have power. If the car cranks and doesn't sound like its giving out, you have power. For one reason or another your not getting fuel. You could be out of gas, have bad injectors. That would be the first 2 things to check. i had a problem similar to this in my 94 z28. i would turn the key and it would make the sound like it was trying to start but wouldn't do it so i took it in to mechanic and the problem was the starter. i had it replaced(kind of an expensive job) and the car has been starting up nicely ever since.
