Why would the ignition coil module keep failing on a 1992 MAZDA 626?

I have had them fail due to heat. I used a certain dilectric grease on the underside to help dissipate the heat. If not heat, then possibly a poor ground.

How to check voltage to ignition module?

One simple way to do it,on ANY car that has a distributor,is to remove the distribitor from the engine, marking it before you do so that it goes back with rotor & body in EXACTLY the same position.Leave all wiring connected to the distributor except the High Tension(HT) lead & connect a jumper lead from the distributor body to a good ground on the engine. Then go inside the car & turn on the ignition but DO NOT crank the engine.Let the disconnected end of the HT rest on its boot against the car body & holding the distributor in one hand, spin the distributor drive shaft with the other hand. You should see showers of sparks on the end of HT lead as the shaft is spun indicating that the ignition module is OK.....no sparks, module's bad!

When the ignition key won't turn on a 1993 Ford Escort how do you pull the ignition switch apart to see what's going on?

Place your key in the ignition, and with the back of a screwdriver( Handle end) lightly tap the key and try to turn at the same time in the ignition, .The tumblers or wafers often get stuck and may help them slide into their proper location. The Focus is notorious for this problem. I have used ths method several times and was able to pull my ignition assembly for replacement. Hopes it works for you, did for me.

Answer testing ignition modulenot all part stores have the ability to test ignition modules,a sure sign would be discoloration of the module or if the outside of the module has a softness to it if neither is apparent you could go to advance auto stores and they do have a peice of equipment to test your module, I used to work at a advance auto parts store

Where can you find the ignition module in a 91 Volvo 740?

On my 90 740gl it is right next to the ignition coil. It depends on the ignition system used. On a Regina ignition, I think everything is built in the coil (The big square one) The regular round coil is for BOSCH ignition and a separate module is use. NOT SURE, would appreciate confirmation.

Where is the tachometer sending unit on a 1987 Mercury Sable?

There is no such animal as a "tachometer sending unit." The tachometer circuit is spliced into the ignition circuit and reads the actual ignition signal used by the ignition module.

1989 Camaro eat 3 ignition modules in 7 days so what causes the ignition module to go bad in a day or two?

What exactly is going on with the car that is making you believe that the ignition module is bad to begin with? Does it not turn over, no power, are there any lights that come on the dashboard? What kind of key is used in this car? Does it have a "chip" in the key?

What does the ignition control module in a 1995 Astro do?

It takes the place of the 'points' that used to be in the distributor, collapsing the coil's field at a precise time, dissipating voltage from the coil to the spark plugs and firing the air fuel mixture in the engine's cmbustion chambers.

Where is the tfi thick film integrated ignition module a 1990 Pontiac grand am 2.3l?

Im not familiar with grand ams with the 2.3L having TFI. That's a ford thing more like. But nonetheless the 2.3L grand ams used direct ignition and the ignition module is bolted to the direct ignition plate above the valve cover. This is the cover that says 2.3L Quad OHC. To remove this there is a harness connectopr that enters the side of this plate. This is the harness for the ignition module, so if you can find this harness then you found the module. There are a few bolts on this top cover. Remove them and then the cover should pull up. The plug boots wuill come with this whole assembly(hence the direct ignition name, no plug wires involved.Let me know if you need any more information.
