if the gas tank is in1/4 almost of this cars make the same problem some times it not start we change the gas pump the hoses and filters even the plastic tank and never solve the problem until we see that pouting more gas than 1/4 it runs great i think it is a fabric problem.
In front of the fuel tank. You will likely have to remove the rear driver side wheel to get to it.

The 1988 Mitsubishi pickup truck data link connector is located on the bottom of the drivers side dashboard. The gauge link connector will be to the left of the steering column.
Try looking for a sticker on the underside of the hood. If it's a 2.6, it should be 8 degrees BTDC.
If the oil light comes on but the oil level is ok, the problem may be a faulty sending unit, as it turned out in my case.
