In my experience you must have voltage to the coil...it must be energized to sustain the engine current to work properly. this requires to have current from the ignition to the engine system. If there is no signs of current-voltage with the ignition ON - more likely it is interrupted at the switch. You may trace continuity on wires from the coil to the switch. check the fuse block to insure that no fuses are bad. You may fing a book on the used books store and locate the diagrams...you may search the net...they are there....keep an eye in the color code to ID the wires -they go from the engine compartment to the inside of the unit...I am assuming the that engine is not running. I am in Texas.
With the key stuck in the accessory position the steering wheel is locked and the gearshift is locked in the park position. Perhaps you should consider having a locksmith change the key cylinder where it is, or else have it towed to the garage.
From Lexus Web site: This procedure should be used to reset the light when the maintenance has been performed:1. Turn ignition switch to the ON position.2. Set the Odometer / Trip Display to the ODO mode3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.4. Depress and HOLD the Trip Meter RESET button while turning the ignition switch to the ON position.5. The Service Maintenance Reminder Light will: a. Illuminate solidly for 3 seconds. b. Blink for 2 seconds. c. Illuminate solidly for 1 second. d. Turn off.6. Release the Trip Meter RESET button.7. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.8. Turn the ignition to the ON position, and confirm that the Service Maintenance Reminder Light goes out.NOTE: If the light continues blinking in step 5a, turn the ignition off, and repeat the procedure from step 1.ignition off, and repeat the procedure from step 1. Depending on the model, this may not work. Your maintenance light is a reminder for every 5000 mile to at minimum have your oil and filter changed.
Ensure the battery is charged. Unlock car on the key fob. Turn key in ignition to position 3 (ignition fully on but not at start) for 30s to 1 min. Return to fully off for 30s. Back to position 3 for 30s, to off for 30s. Then turn key straight to start position, engine should now catch on the started. This should reset the imobiliser. Needed after the car is jumped from another car if the battery has run flat because its french and so is afraid of work. Hope it works for you Matt
it should have the voltage regulator built into the alternator
You replace the ignition cylinder and then turn the ignition (with key) to on position. All dash lights will light up in the on position. After a few seconds only the security light will flash. Leave the ignition on for 10 minutes while the security light flashes. At the end of the 10 minutes the security light will go out. This will be the first cycle of reseting the E.C.M. to read the new cylinder and ignition system replacement. At this point you do this process two more times. This will take proximately 30 minutes. At the end of all three cycles the car should come on. If you want someone to walk you through it E mail me at archuleta67@gmail.com.
12 VOLTS
within one volt above or under battery voltage
According to my factory service manual the voltage at the throttle position sensor should vary from about 0.5 volts in the idle position to 5.0 volts in the wide open throttle position.
when ignition is on it should be battery volts, when cranking in should pulse..(test with a led test light or osilliscope
The head lamps should not get dim. Dim light are an indication of low voltage. You should have a volt meter in the instrument panel. If the voltages is not reading about 14V when the engine is running, you have a bad battery or alternator. It should read over 12V with the engine not running and the ignition in the on position. It should not drop below about 9-10 when cranking the engine. If you have low voltage during cranking and normal voltage at other times, you probably need to replace the battery.
Variable
Try replacing the ignition solenoid. It sounds like yours may be stuck in the start position.
Make sure you have only about 8 volts going to it not a full 12. There is a resistor wire that should cut the voltage.
Most injectors should show battery voltage IE approx 13V. Where to look if not getting voltage. Immobiliser. Injector relay. Wiring harness. Crankshaft position sensor.
Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position. That should release your shifter.
Turn igniton to on position and put odometer in trip mode, turn off ignition. Hold trip button in and hold it in as you turn ignition to on position, it will flash Turn off ignition. Maintenance light should go and stay off
According to my factory service manual the throttle position sensor voltage on a Chevrolet Celebrity should be between 0.5 V and 5.0 volts as it moves through its range of motion.
