There must have been 2 different locations for the #1 cyl on the dist cap for this engine. both haynes manuals and the distributer cap placed the #1 at 5:30 o-clock if you are facing the engine from the spark plug side.(driver side faceing passenger side. this stumped me for hours. had to find top dead centre to find that my 95 f150 4.9 was 1 terminal clockwise from where it should be!. the fireing order was still 1,5,3,6,2,4.
I do not have an answer but I also have a 1994 Toyota Camry that will not start and has no spark, I swapped out the ignition module to no avail, the distributor and rotor appear fine. Any help
it could be as minor as a tune up (spark plugs and wires)(or bad distributor coil pack). or possibly a faulty fuel injector.
The distributor cap is located where the spark plugs cables are connected .They go from the motor to the distributor cap.
The distributor handles several jobs. Its first job is to distribute the high voltage from the coil to the correct cylinder. This is done by the cap and rotor. The coil is connected to the rotor, which spins inside the cap. The rotor spins past a series of contacts, one contact per cylinder. As the tip of the rotor passes each contact, a high-voltage pulse comes from the coil. The pulse arcs across the small gap between the rotor and the contact (they don't actually touch) and then continues down the spark-plug wire to the spark plug on the appropriate cylinder. When you do a tune-up, one of the things you replace on your engine is the cap and rotor -- these eventually wear out because of the arcing. Also, the spark-plug wires eventually wear out and lose some of their electrical insulation. This can be the cause of some very mysterious engine problems.
The rotor inside the distributor should be pointing at the #1 spark plug.

What is the proper spark plug wire placement routing to the distributor for a 1994 Honda civic cx
On the 4.9 L ( 300 cubic inch ) straight 6 cylinder The spark plug firing order is ( 1 - 5 - 3 - 6 - 2 - 4 ) The distributor rotor turns CLOCKWISE The distributor cap is installed with the marked # 1 position facing AWAY from the engine

Yes, the distributor sends the Spark to each cylinder. No Sparky No Runny.
Faulty plug lead, and/or distributor cap,if applicable
in what order are the spark plug wires on the distributor cap on a 1998 dodge Dakota 6 cylinder
When standing on the passanger side looking at the distributor the top right plug is cylinder one (the cylinder closest to the distributor). The top left plug on the distributor is cylinder two. The bottom left plug is cylinder three. Finally the bottom left plug is cylinder four (the cylinder furthest from the distributor, closest to the timing gear). Hope this helps.
A 96 maxima does not have "a distributor" it has 6 individual distributors or coil packs. One for each cylinder/spark plug. They are on the top side of the spark plugs.
It should be the same as the small block.18436572.
