A 97 Saturn that stays in forward gears could be one of two problems. Either the electronic transmission controls are stuck in forward, or the internal bands in the transmission have welded themselves together.
Your transmission is gone, you need to rebuild it.
I wonder if it might be the starter motor not fully disengaging and as soon as the flywheel turns, it's kicking it back.
it is bolted to the transmission case, it controls park, reverse, nuetural, drive, second, first, and if it isn't in park or neutral your car wont start, so make sure it is connected to your shifter. if that doesnt correct the problem the it could be the pump or torque converter bolts have fell out tk
I have a Saturn 2001 300 L . The lights on the inside of car wont work.
Drive...
The shifter. D is for drive which is forward and R is for reverse. N is for neutral. You have to have the breaks pressed down all the way in order to move out of park and into D or R.
car will jerk forward and then go in reverse
The neutral position puts a cars transmission out of gear and therefore makes the car roll.
truck will only go forward not in reverse does this mean the transmission is gone
well it depends if your wanting to go backwards then you put the car in reverse . or if your wanting to stop then you put the car on neutral.
it will drive but when in reverse it wont move
I don't think F1 cars have a reverse gear. They are not like normal cars wherein the driver is expected to drive the vehicle both forward and backward. If a F1 car needs to be reversed, the driver puts the car in neutral gear and mechanics push the car backwards.
Your transmission is gone, you need to rebuild it.
No ... A bad neutral safety switch will let the car start in any gear, but will not prevent the car from going into reverse
no it will cause u 2 go > slowly >=forward
That is what is called an optical illusion.
I have the same problem with my 92 Mazda 626, have Not found a solution yet.
