Check to make sure the hoses tight. If you have an old muscle car or classic it might be OIL coming from the breather tube, unless you know for certain that its coolant. If you really do have an old car its a common thing, no fix is needed. Explanation: the oil gets hot and vapors much like steam comes out the breather tube, thus it looks like you are leaking coolant or OIL, but really its just vapor.
There are (2)... One intake and nod exhaust. They are located under the plastic engine cover on top of engine. Passenger side..valve cover has markings on it exh...int.
The engine head is physically mounted on top of the engine block and is capped by the valve cover (which usually has the car manufacture's name on it). you can also find it by tracing the exhaust pipe to the engine. it does several major things: 1) it houses the valve assemblies for allowing intake of gas mixture and exhaust of combusted mixture 2) houses the spark plugs for combustion 2) will almost always house the cam shaft/s (unless its a push rod engine) 3) provide bearing surface for cam lifters 4) provide junctions for intake manifold and exhaust manifold 5) continues coolant route throughout the engine hope this helps!
Valves have seals instead of gaskets and if one was bad you would have oil on the spark plug for that cylinder if you were to take it out and inspect it. A bad valve cover gasket would leak oil on the outside of the engine. a bad head gasket would put oil and/or pressure into the coolant system, coolant into the combustion chamber causing white smoke, or coolant into the oil. signs of a blown head gasket can be:- coolant leaking outside of engine from head/block area, coolant in engine oil, oil in radiator, over heating of engine.loss of pwer.loss of coolant from coolant resevoir, smell of coolant while driving, and not being able to tell where it is coming from
Knock Sensor On your 1992 Toyota Truck Previa 2WD (2.4L FI DOHC), the Knock Sensor is located: Front seating area, center, under engine cover, passenger side of engine, under intake manifold, mounted in engine block
Non moving parts of an engine, to name a few are engine block oil pan oil plug spark plug rocker cover intake/exhaust manifold core plug ignition coil oil filter cylinder head Hope that helps some, ~Ashley
No, if there is coolant in your valve cover it'll be mixed with oil. You blew your head gasket, possibly warped or cracked your head. It may look like coolant is leaking from your valve cover but it's your intake gasket leaking.
Stop driving this car immediately. Take it to a professional. You have an intake plenum that is possibly leaking or is cracked. Severe engine damage can occur if you continue to drive this car. Coolant can enter the combustion chamber which will destroy this engine.
They screw in from the top between the valve cover and the intake manifold. They screw in from the top between the valve cover and the intake manifold.
Any internal coolant leak can cause a milky residue in the valve cover. Head gasket, intake gasket, cracked/warped head, cracked intake are possible causes.
Generaly on end is in a valve cover and the other is in the intake.Generaly on end is in a valve cover and the other is in the intake.
Its one of two things. First, either the intake manifold is leaking coolant between the intake and the head. The gasket is pinched in the driver side rear. or Its an oil leak from the valve cover at the passenger side rear. You can tell by the smell- it can either smell like oil or antifreeze steam.
It's directly underneath the plastic cover that covers the top of the engine, the plastic cover pulls off and the intake plenum is underneath it.
Small pinhead size holes behind the water pump, eventually breakthrough the cover and voila you get coolant mixing with engine oil.
under the intake manifold you have to remove the engine cover to get to it.
on the engine at the left hand side just below the cover
coolant leaking from around the valve cover can mean two diffrent things. ether the intake gaskets need to be changed or the head has a crake in the water jacket and need to be replaced. this also would involve removal of the intake and the heads. make sure the coolant it leaking around the intake before you go that far it might simply be the quick disconect were on of the heater hoses gos in to the intake on the right side of the motor coolant leaking from around the valve cover can mean two diffrent things. ether the intake gaskets need to be changed or the head has a crake in the water jacket and need to be replaced. this also would involve removal of the intake and the heads. make sure the coolant it leaking around the intake before you go that far it might simply be the quick disconect were on of the heater hoses gos in to the intake on the right side of the motor
What size engine do you have? Cause on the 3.8 & 4.6L engines it is mounted in the valve cover on the rear of the engine under the air intake hose. If you see your Mass Airflow Sensor it should be to the left of that on the valve cover. If you have a 5.0 it is located in the intake manifold. Hope this helps. What size engine do you have?
