Engines need fuel, compression and spark to run. You believe you have fuel so check for spark next. A faulty crank sensor could be one reason you have no spark. If you have spark, have a compression test done. The timing chain/belt may have broken if you have no compression.
Either the gear on the end of the distributor shaft is chewed off or the gear that drives it is . Possibly broken cam.
If the starter is still rotating the crankshaft upon turning the key in the ignition, AND there is a charge from the ignition coil to the distributor, the problem is most likely that 1. The distributor is improperly timed and/or calibrated for the engine in which it is placed, 2. The distributor is the incorrect type for the engine it is attached to, or 3. the mechanical linkages that spin the rotor are defective or incorrectly installed.
a, the battery condition should be checked first to make sure that its capable of turning over the starter, a weak battery will cause the majority of starter problems, if the battery is fine then its more than likley to be a problem with the actual starter or poor connections on the starter, i have only ever had 1 with a wiring problem, as for the timing out it will not cause slow cranking unless its well out causing piston to valve contact this is only possible if the belt has slipped or it was timed up wrong on refitting a new belt so b is highley unlikley but not impossable. Checking the timing went away with the distributor.
I assume it is not starting? You turn the key and it goes click click click. You have a dead battery.
not turning on could be flat battery, bad igniton switch, bad safety switch, bad starter motor, bad stater solenoid
Mazda Millenia 95 not starting put another motor in it just turning over? its probably the distributor is bad.
Loosen the distributor hold-down bolt. Standing in front of the vehicle looking at the engine turning the distributor clockwise advances the timing. Turning the distributor counter-clockwise is retarding the timing. Hold the distributor steady while tightening the hold-down bolt. Factory hold-down bolt needs a 1/2 inch wrench.
take distributor cap off and see if rotor button is turning when crank over
it does
If it starts hot, check the mixture control
It is zeroed to the crank with a scan tool. It can not be done with a timing light. It is done by turning the distributor.
broken motor mount(s)
You can monitor distributor degrees with a timing light.
Have you checked for trouble codes in the engine computer? Do you have access to a scan tool? You need a scan tool so you can see if the cam and crank sensors are reading. Are all fuses good? Is the battery full charge? Is there voltage to the distributor? Is the distributor turning?
i have the same problem on a 91 dodge and i took distributor out and pulled the gear out and it was striped u can see cam turning but not the distributor so check and see if its turning
You sure the start motor hasn't failed? I have the same problem on my 306.
Yes, there is a bolt and a plate that holds the distributor down.
