Frozen brake caliper
if you also had your rotors replaced w/ the brake service then its because the mechanic did not completely clean off the chemical compound applied to the rotor when shipped. its used so it stays in top condition. if you have your OLD rotors and it smokes after new pads, then something is very wrong. more than likely wrong brake pad or the person who worked on your brakes messed something up.
A frozen brake caliper or if you just instaled new brakes and rotors you might have oil on the rotors as they need to be clean before installing.
Either you tightened your brakes too tight or you assembled your drums wrong.
At that point I would ask them why they didn't adjust and inspect the parking brake when they did the brakes. Yes, it's possible, but I wouldn't let them do the work if they aren't going to take care of it under warranty.
yes it is normal due to an oily residue on new rotors. it is recommended to use brake cleaner and or warm soapy water to remove the oils but not absolutely necessary. they will operate fine with the oil residue still on them but expect them to smoke and smell funny, it is normal . it takes a little bit for the brakes to get worn in as well as the rotors so start braking earlier than normal and don't slam on them until you feel them acting like normal or you will put grooves in the rotors and possibly the brakes as well wich will give your car that shake in the steering wheel and you will have to replace pads and pay to have the rotors turned or possibly replace the pads and rotors again due to an un-even surface.
valve seals. Can be replaced with engine in truck & heads do not have to be removed.
Sounds like your rotors need to be turned (replaced if necessary). Does the shake happen worse when braking at higher speeds? Id recommend you pull the rotors off and check for variances in thickness with a proper guage, get them turned, and go from there.AnswerI agree. Sounds like the rotors are warpped. I've had this problem and it turned out it was a bad caliper Do any of the wheels smoke when you stop ? Do you have a strong smell from any of the wheels? I would check to see if any of the wheels are locked up or rotate harder than should be.
This is a serious condition - you need to have your brain serviced or replaced immediately.
The calipers are stuck, or they are cheap brakes, or somebody got oil or grease on the brakes and disks.
If you have to ask this question, you should not be working on brakes. You really should have experience in this area, because doing something in the wrong manner could be deadly for you or your passengers. Either find someone with experience or take it to a mechanic. I do a lot of work on my cars, however, I never mess with the brakes (personal opinion).
black smoke is usually a sign of bad piston rings, meaning they arent sealing correctly, and meaning that they need replaced which means a total engine rebuild basically.
The brakes are not releasing and need to be brought back to whoever put them on.
