Fossils!!
(EXAMPLE)Casts of flora and fauna are created by (for example) a leaf falling into mud millions of years ago. the mud eventually hardens forming sandstone and therefore, the leaf is embedded within this. bones, twigs, small animals like mice or fish are commonly found in this way. After pressure from surface material or the build up of further sand or mud, whole bodies can become trapped, leaving complete skeleton fossils. Ice is another good producer of foosils or petrified casts, like mammoths, Sabre tooth tigers etc.

I have a hairline fractire in my ankle but I only have a walking boot and crutches so i think they need casts unless they are really bad.

Petrified Fossils, Molds, Casts, Carbon Films and Trace Fossils.
These could all include the trace fossils. They would in things like gastroliths, coprolites, casts and molds, and imprints.
molds or casts
Molds and casts are preserved by a solidifying. Wet plaster or other materials dry or cure until solid and hardened.
There are a variety of types of fossils. These include cast fossils, mold fossils, petrified wood, as well as fossil fuels.
Molds and casts may be produced when sediments fill molds left by decayed organisms.
Petrified wood is when the tree is in contact with elements and minerals that solidify it into a rock or petrified tree. A mold is the fossilized imprint from an animal or plant organism, whilst a cast is when the organism died or ended up in a rock/mineral and ended up being filled with the minerals of the surroundings over time (from the limestone as example). This creates a replica of the organism once the actual organism dissolves. This is what I gathered from science class today... So I suggest you do more research if needed. Forgive me if I'm wrong. Good luck with whatever you need this for
Yyyyy
Fossils can form from pretty much anything. They normally form from animals fish and objects such as jewelry. Fossils are very unique things and show us what happened in history :) booooooooooggggggggggggiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeee mmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnn is a fossil as well ;)

The real bones are so old that they decay before paleontologists can dig them up.
Bones, teeth, impressions, casts, footprints, trails, coprolites, stomach stones, chemical traces, seeds, mineral content in rock, and many more the answerer is unaware of.
