Given that approximately 16 grams of oxygen contains a mole of oxygen atoms, the weight of an oxygen atom in grams can be solved by dividing by Avogadro's number. 16/(6.02 x 10^23) is equal to approximately 2.66 x 10 ^ -23 g, which is the approximate weight of an oxygen atom in grams.

Atomic Mass of oxygen is 15.9994.

The fun is, we simply say the atomic mass or weight of atom or molecule with some numerals.

The following unit is not gram or kilogram. That one is in a.m.u. a.m.u means atomic mass unit. One a.m.u equals to one twelfth of mass of carbon-12 isotope and that equals to 1.66 x 10 -27 kg.

So atomic mass of oxygen is 15.9994 x 1.66 x 10 -27 x 1000 gram.

If 230 g sample of a compound contains 136.6 g of carbon 26.4 g of hydrogen and 31.8 g of nitrogen The rest is oxygen What is the mass percent of oxygen in the compound?

The mass of the elements that are not oxygen equals 194.8g. The mass of oxygen is 230g - 194.8g = 35.2g of oxygen. Mass percent of oxygen = 35.2g O/230g x 100 = 15% O

What is the mass of 2.6 g of magnesium and 1.6 g of oxygen?

The molar mass of magnesium is 24.31 g/mol, while the molar mass of oxygen is 16 g/mol. To find the mass of 2.6 g of magnesium, you can divide 2.6 g by the molar mass of magnesium (24.31 g/mol) and multiply by Avogadro's number to find the number of moles. Similarly, you can do the same calculation for 1.6 g of oxygen and then sum up the molar masses to find the total mass.
