Crunches and situps don't help you lose stomach fat. The only way to lose stomach fat is to do exercise that burns fat - like cardio. Fat is distributed all over your body, so you need to burn it to get rid of it. Crunches and situps are very useful for building core strength however.
If you're trying to tone and firm that area, you need to do cardio workouts as well as workouts specified for that area, such as crunches and sit-ups. The cardio will help you drop the weight from the area and the crunches will help tone and firm that area. Good luck!
it is always good to get the exercise with crunches but does not help get abs. it will help your stomach get tougher though so the more you work on it the tougher your stomach will get, but you wont have abs!
running is a very good way of working your stomach
It's okay but crunches work better
running, and doing ab workouts
Do crunches daily or get a hard working physical labor job. Or both.
It's not that crunches don't work, it's that they won't get you a flat stomach. What you want is to do cardio. Anything that gets your body moving and your heart rate up will help you lose fat. When you do lose the fat around your stomach you will see the results of the crunches (muscle definition). It's good to do both (and not just crunches other "absentric" moves) if you want a flat stomach, but being active and eating well will lose the fat that is really the point of flat stomacs.
For this I would like to say only one answer that is crunches and sit-ups. These are good working outs to cut excess fat on stomach. For the best results besides of crunches and sit-ups you need to follow some of the diet tips too.
Calisthenics workouts are simple movement exercises where you use only your body, no equipment. The push ups and crunches you are doing is a good example. Some other calisthenics you could do would be lunges, sit ups, jumping jacks, pull ups and squats.
It is good to do crunches because it will strengthen your core and push ups are good because it will strengthen your biceps.
Crunches and sit ups are the best. I hear Pilates is good too, and yoga. For more Ab workouts check out this site: http://exercise.about.com/od/abs/ss/abexercises.htm
There are many great workouts that will help you get six pack abs, but my favorite is a bicycle crunch. It works all your abs and at the same time it gives you that finishing touch of the V cut. This answer is good too but you did not list the workouts that the person asked for in the question. I think workouts like Pilate's and crunches and stuff like that should help. going for a swim is good ab workout plus its a hole body workout and it will help you cut down fat in your abs and also doing around 15 minuets of skipping ( with ropes) will help tone your abs if you flex well doing it .
