Hey there,
Old people need more calcium than the average middle-aged individual for two main reasons:
(1) They are prone to lose bone mass and we all know calcium helps "build healthy bones."
(2) They have decreased stomach acid which inhibits the absorption of calcium by the body.
as a 15 year old you need calcium to grow. bones and teeth need calcium to grow in size and become stronger. if you stop calcium intake your bones will stop to grow and teeth will become weak and will easily break or crack with minor accidents also.
It is calcium and vitamin D tablets. Vitamin D is more important in older people during winter. Young people tend to be outdoors more and absorbing Vitamin D from sunlight. The calcium helps to maintain bone structure in young and old.
1,500mg a day.
it is because milk contains calcium that will make our bones stronger. People over forty five years old should drink milk so that their bone will be strong since the older the people get, the weaker the bones will be. And as what I've said, calcium will strengthen our bones and therefore, we could prevent the osteoporosis especially the old people.
no. in fact, the main cause of arthritis is the loss or improper disposition of calcium in the joints. this has been a misconception to most of the people, but studies have been made and the results have invalidated the old concept. hence, it is a threat to arthritis when a person takes more calcium.
When you become older, your bones start to detrirate, and they relase calcium from your bones, making them weaker. A fifteen year old wont have that happening, meaning a fifteen year old woukdnt need as much of an intake of calcium than the thirty year old.
about a bakers dozen
Calcium is essential for maintaining the necessary level of bone mass to support the structures of the body. The body is constantly using calcium for the heart, blood, muscles and nerves. Calcium is also lost through normal bodily processes such as waste and the shedding of hair, fingernails, sweat and skin. Generally speaking, the body requires a little more calcium as it ages. For example, a 1 year old only needs 270 mg of calcium while a 7 year old needs 800 mg. At age 50 or older, you'll need 1,200 mg. Calcium is a necessary part of the body at all times. Taking in additional calcium is required for those with a deficiency. Some people take extra calcium while pregnant or lactating.
Because the 6 year old is still growing, whereas the dad would (may be growing) but not as much as the child. The child needs calcium in his bones to get taller, the dad is growing much slower if at all and so he needs less.
Because Old people are more open to sicknesses then young people because young people get more exercise then Old people
It depends on how old you are.
Vitamin D is needed for calcium to be made useful in the body (for instance in bones). As you get older you tend to lose calcium from the bones and it becomes necessary to try and prevent this by ensuring that there is enough calcium in the diet and that this calcium is usable by the body. Vitamin D is made in the body by the action of UV sunlight on the fat layers just under the skin. If there is not enough exposure to sunlight the body becomes short of vitamin D and bode deformities can occur in growing children (rickets). Therefore in the young and the old it is important that both Calcium and vitamin D are present in the diet.
