During the Gulf War, particularly in the Desert Storm phase, Iran provided limited support to the Iraqi Air Force by allowing some Iraqi aircraft to seek refuge in Iranian territory. This refuge enabled the Iraqi Air Force to avoid destruction from coalition forces. However, Iran's primary focus was on its own interests in the region, and its support was not extensive or officially sanctioned. The relationship was complex, as both nations had a history of conflict following the Iran-Iraq War.
No. The term Desert Storm comes from the name of the main offensive, codenamed Operation Desert Storm. So Desert Storm was just the name of the first offensive action carried out by the Coalition forces during the Gulf War. Operation Desert Storm (January and February 1991) 3. Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003 to present)

The Iran-Iraq War, Desert Storm, or Iraqi Freedom?
He was the leader of Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988); Operation Desert Storm (Jan/Feb '91); and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003- ).
"The Iraqis offered to withdraw from Kuwait during the gulf war"? Which Gulf War? They may have made that offer during the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-1988; but then Kuwait may not have been involved during that time period. If Iraq made that offer in 1991, during Operation Desert Storm...then there would NOT HAVE BEEN A DESERT STORM! The whole purpose of Operation Desert Storm was to eject Iraq from Kuwait. If Iraq offered to leave...then that would negate the military action needed to remove them.

During his war against Iran in the 1980's, most of his military seemed to best the Iranians. During Operations Desert Storm (Jan/Feb '91) and Iraqi Freedom (2003), his Republican Guard units were supposedly the best. However, against the coalition forces during those campaigns, his Air Force fled into neighboring Iran, and his armies surrendered faster than coalition forces could advance. President Bush Sr. had to stop Desert Storm (after viewing the "Highway of Death" on television) because Desert Storm was turning into a slaughter instead of a war. President Bush Jr. ceased offensive operations against the NATION of Iraq when Saddam himself was removed from power during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Cleanup, the restoring of law, order and stability remains to be accomplished since then.
Iraq-Iran War, Desert Storm, or Iraqi Freedom; all three are sometimes called the Gulf War; which one are you referring to?
