Did Stephen Hawking appear on the Star Trek show?

In Star Trek: The Next Generation, 6-26 (Descent, Part 1), Data is in the opening scene playing Poker with 3 holographic characters. Each character was a brilliant scientist in history, Sir Issac Newton, Albert Einstein and, of course, Steven Hawking, who obviously played himself. The whole purpose was for Data to study the social aspects of brilliant minds while in a game of chance.

On a trivial note, Newton and Data folded after a hefty bet by Hawking. Einstein believed he was bluffing and challenged him. Einstein lost to Hawking's four sevens.
