He has helped pass major measures designed to combat the international trafficking of nuclear weapons, promote the use of alternative fuels, and open up the budget process to greater public scrutiny.

He has published two best-selling books.

As president, he helped to rescue the United States auto industry when it was in dire straits.

He championed financial reform of Wall Street, which included imposing $500,00 caps on senior executive pay for the most distressed financial institutions receiving federal bailout money.

He led the mission that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden.

He championed legislation that will expand access to health care to millions of Americans.
In no particular order: Federal funding of stem cell research; closer oversight of the financial services/credit card industry including establishment of the Consumer Finance Protection Agency; ratification of the nuclear weapons reduction treaty with Russia; rescue of the US automobile industry; health insurance reform; timetables for bringing our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan; extension of unemployment compensation; an end to discrimination against homosexuals in the military; assisted in the overthrow of Gaddafi, at no loss of American life.
