Using data and algorithms from the website www.geomidpoint.com on July 14, 2009 I ran the analysis using all 62 places in Africa, estimated the geographic midpoint, the center of distance, and the average latitude/longitude. A simple average of the latitude and longitude, respectively resulted in this new estimate of the geographic center of Africa. The point was found to be in Lobake National Park in Cameroon, just southwest of Malongo, and west of the Kadei River.
