Roman Catholic Answer

First of all, the Catholic Church cannot, in and of itself, be corrupt; people in the Church may be corrupt, but the Church, itself, is the Mystical Body of Our Blessed Lord, who promised to pray for it, and send the Holy Spirit to guide it into all truth until the end of the world. Second of all, a monk's job primarily is to pray the Divine Office, to intercede for people, and for the whole Church. A monk, normally, is not even ordained, so would have NO business, whatsoever outside of his monastery. So the short answer to your question is a resounding "no" from whichever angle you consider it.

While it's not a monk's specific job to police the Catholic Church for corruption, monks are called to maintain integrity and moral values within their own communities. If a monk witnesses corruption within the Church, they may choose to address it through proper channels or seek guidance from higher authorities. Ultimately, the responsibility for addressing corruption within the Catholic Church lies with its leaders and members as a whole.

Martin Luther was a monk, but also a priest and professor of theology. In one or all of those roles, he believed the Catholic Church, or at least its most senior hierarchy (which arguably is the same thing), was corrupt and believed it was his job to say so. The Church believed he had no business trying to reform the Church and sought to have him recant, finally attempting to have him go to Rome, where he would be at the mercy of the Church, or at least its most senior hierarchy. Facing resistance to his attempts to reform the Church, he was eventually to participate in the formation of Protestantism.

Do Catholic monks celebrate Mass?

It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. A Catholic monk celebrates Mass if he was ordained to the priesthood. Usually what used to be called choir monks were all ordained to the priesthood, while claustral or lay brothers were the monks who did all the manual labor around the monastery.

How did the Scientific Revolution weaken the Catholic Church?

The "Scientific Revolution" did not weaken the Catholic Church, the Scientific Revolution was brought about by the Catholic Church. Nearly everyone who contributed to it for centuries was Catholic, in many notable cases, they were even clergy or monks. People of a protestant or secular viewpoint often make the claim that the scientific revolution led to a weakening of the Church because the Church relied on things not seen, while science relied on provable facts, but this is a straw argument, and doesn't touch the reality that everyone actually doing the science was a Catholic.
