2. Most people don't want to be told to kneel on a small rug facing in a predefined direction at various times throughout the day (Muslim). All of these religions work for many people, but not all of them work for all of the people. If the government's goal is to keep ALL of it's people content, it would have to come up with a religion that everyone agrees on. This would not be practical because no matter what you are taught, you are capable of thinking things through and making your own decisions about your spirituality, and somewhere along your life you may decide to think a different way.
