You get to the finish line before the other competitors get there...

There are many strategies involved. The most common of these is to accelerate as fast as possible in the first 100 meters, then conserve your energy and maintain speed for the back straight away. Finally kick with everything you have left for the last 200m. If you're not quit fit enough to maintain such a long kick, the finish is the most important. Many reports I've seen say that your first 200m should be a tiny bit slower than your fastest. One other thing to keep in mind is that you have to stay in the race to be able to pull it out in the end. Never let the competition get too far ahead.

Due to the curved/circular path of the track, the diameter is longer with each lane that moves outwards. Runners start at intervals for the 400 meter dash so that all runners end up running 400 meters in the end and not more or less.

4 laps if it's a regular 400m track. Like the track at football fields you see in high school.

well it depends on the type of event you want to do. if you are doing sprints then i would recommend using sprinting spikes which are super light weight and have only a very thin heel because you don't need to use your heel. but if you are doing longer running events like the 800, 1600, etc., i would use long distance spikes which are the same as sprinting spikes but with a thicker heel because you would run heel- toe

A dash refers to a sprint (100 meters to 400 meters) while a run refers to longer distances.

400m every lane is the same distance.
Yes, the above is true in a 400 metre race!
However, if you are training or running for fitness or pleasure on a track, signs often tell you not to run on the inside lane, and you may wonder like I have what the distance is around various lanes.
See the answer in this website to: "What is the length of each lane on a running track?"
The line around which you run in lane #6 is approximately 440 meters long (439.898 meters long, to be mathematically more precise).

Stand with your feet side by side on the start line, then put on foot behind the other, and come onto the balls of your feet. As soon as the pistol goes off, spring off of your foot to get a good start. Its an all out sprint to the end, so give it everything you have.

I'm not sure what's an average time but a 51 second 400m is very good for a 16 year old. (Top in Ontario for sure).

The fastest eleven year old 800 metre time is not certain as that track officials don't normally post it on the web but i have experience in 800m and i know that it is in the range of 2:30 to 2:50.
2.50 for an 11yo?
No - 2.20 is very good for an 11yo - and there would be some who have run it in 2.15 or faster.
The NSW record for an 11yo is 2.15 and the Australian national record is 2.11.
The NSW State 11yo title was won recently in 2.20 and the 10 yrs in 2.23. Sort of puts 2.30-2.50 into perspective.
mine is 2:28 but im 13. so if you can get that you will win medal in all of your meets.
Ok, In the 1981 English Championships, Inter Counties, a kid (12) ran 2.05 Erik Kimani, i remember i was running about 2.24 at 12 and was blown away when i saw the 10 top english times, This kid, with a beard, was 7 seconds, or was it 9 seconds faster than the next fastest kid. His 1500 was 4.05 If i remember.

For men running under a 60seconds would be good for a 12 year old. Towards the end of High school for an 18 year old a good time would be about 48seconds. And College should range from 44-47 for a good 400m.

i would say a good 100m time for a 10 year old boy is around 16-17secs. I am an 11 year old girl and ran the 100m in 15.9 secs.

Judging that you are giving a 200m time, I would assume that you are a sprinter. This means that your second 200 will most likely be slower than your first so you should run around 50-51sec for your 400.
