Do people who drink become another person?

no that is a cop out for people who act irresponsibly to make an excuse for their action when they get smashed. what alcohol does is thin your blood and causes you to loose your inhibitions and judgment. so you are still the same person, you just care a little less about what people think of you... until your friends fill you in on what happened the next morning. and remember always pop some advil and pound a bottle of water after a night or raging or the hangover will really suck

Where does alcohol metabolism take place?

What do you mean where does alcoholism occur? Do you mean where in the body does the problem occur or where in a geographical location?

If you want to know more about the reasons why people are alcoholics you might want to read some support forums or websites with articles that would give you more insight to the disease / addiction that will allow you to come up with your own answer.

Geographically alcoholism occurs anywhere there is alcohol. It is just like any other substance that people choose to abuse. Eventually they develop a physical or emotional need for that substance and become addicted.

any excessive drinking in man or woman will damage your liver, the amount varies person to person, and will also depend on how this quantity is consumed if you spread it out over the whole week it will do much less damage than if you drink it all once a week, I believe the "healthy" consumption amount is around 7-12 units per week (i.e. 1-1.4 units per day)

ANSWER

alcohol has been used for thousands of years as a social lubricant. it is NOT bad.

society needs substances such as alcohol to help the aspect of human beings that is kept hidden by 'civilized society', the ability to let go.

humans are very social animals but we are taught not to be too social, ie you cant start chatting to strangers on the street as its seen in society as strange, weird, bad etc but people need to talk, people like to talk, but society doesn't.

it is the people who drink it than can be bad when they are too drunk, some people even have an allergic reaction to it but don't seem to realise, or care, and they can become very aggressive, red faced, heart racing etc

people with alcohol problems should stop drinking, Alcoholics need to deal with the fact that they are addicted., depressives shouldn't drink as it is a depressant ,mentaly ill people shouldn't drink as it can obviously make it worse. anything taken in excess has 'no good outcomes'

evey one else is fine when they are simply a little socially tipsy and it can help make you the fun, confident, charismatic, social chatty person you feel you are inside but can not be. you can make friends this way and socially (ie out in a bar not at home with them) talk better with already existing friends. as the inhibitions are down you are more able to laugh at yourself and laugh when you do something stupid and embaracing where you would normally feel stupid ,embaraced and uncomfortable ergo making you feel better about yourself, more accepting of mistakes you make and making you look very comfortable with yourself friendly and funny.

hope that helps

Why is alcohol bad for teenagers?

There are many reasons not to drink alcohol, especially as a teenager. Some of these are;

* Alcohol damages your brain development so you can't live up to your full intellectual potential.

* Having alcohol when you have been told not to creates a barrier of dishonesty between you and your family.

* Receiving and drinking alcohol if you are underage can get you fined or in prison for a short period of time.

* Our bodies are lighter and we have smaller livers that can be damaged much more easily. Drinking alcohol in large quantities at a time will cause serious damage to your liver, and possibly death.

* It can change your emotions in ways that may cause you to lose friends and cause them to dislike you.

* Developing an alcohol addiction will affect your entire future in unpleasant ways.

* Girls drinking alcohol have increased chances of getting raped.

How do you committ someone because of alcohol abuse?

That would depend on the jurisdiction. Most places, a mental health professional or police officer can do it on the spot if they feel the person is a danger to himself or others. Otherwise it takes a court order. You should contact a local treatment center for details on that, as well as on the possibility of an intervention -- which almost always has better overall results.

What reduces the blood alcohol level?

Ls there any known way to pass an ETG alcohol tes when you have been drinking?

ETG tests are highly flawed due to not being discriminative enough where the alcohol is comming from. People have lost their jobs, licenses, etc and didn't drink. Those in the healthcare field will fail automatically due to the need to constantly use Purell; over 700 ng, almost 800ng, and the limit is 100. Considering an alcoholic beverage will cause 6000 ng, having the positive results at 100ng is rediculous!

Lysol disinfectant alone will cause a false positive. Foods, including ripe fruits, will cause false positives. Not only these but also cleansers, toothpaste, mouthwash, breathfresheners, some aerosol products, food enhancers such as extracts, hairspray, deodorant, over the counter medicines, and the list goes on.

They say that only ingestion will cause a positive result but this was clinically found to be false ...inhaling the fumes will also cause a false positive result which was shown with the use of Purell. It may just have been a guess, by the scientists, that it was just the inhaling of the fumes, but your skin is the biggest organ in you body and I believe that absorption must be considered as well! I personally don't know how anyone can pass it. I would fail alone just from my coffee with Vanilla extract in it every morning. Or my whip cream on ice cream.

This test is completely unreliable.

What is the etiology of alcoholism?

There are a variety of reasons. Some people drink alcoholically from the day they first try it, and for others, it is a gradual slide. Some families, even at the upper end of the socio-economic scale have a long history of alchoholism which goes back many generations, suggesting a genetic factor. Many indigenous cultures around the world have serious alcohol abuse problems, such as Australian aborigines and native Americans. It has been suggested that they are predisposed to alcohol addiction because they never had exposure to it until recently. By contrast, cultures who have made wine for thousands of years have relatively few alcoholics, and some argue that the "alcohol gene" has receded through time because its carriers have died younger and had less offspring. Alcoholism among indigenous people is also caused by hopelessness, having been displaced and their culture disrupted or destroyed by European settlement. Perhaps it is a combination of both factors. In individuals, it is often difficult to see if depression has caused them to drink, or vice versa. Both illnesses can worsen the other - in a downward spiral. A dysfunctional upbringing-especially in an alcoholic environment greatly increases alcohol abuse in later life. Alcohol abuse among teenagers is largely the result of peer pressure. Thankfully, most of them grow out of it. Recent studies have shown that alcoholics, when they drink release abnormal amounts of a brain chemical called THIQ- tetrahydroisoquinone, which causes a strong craving for more alcohol, making it very hard to stop. Cultural attitudes to alcohol vary between countries. In Brazil, Young people go to nightclubs and they dance , eat and talk, but drink moderately. Drunkeness is viewed with disdain. In Australia and Britain, getting drunk is a lot more socially acceptable, almost a rite of passage. It is also true that people in stressful jobs and occupations which can be emotionally traumatic, abuse alcohol more. Many war veterans have turned to alcohol. It seems that human beings have a unique propensity for taking mind-altering chemicals, and the intelligence to make substances like alcohol (and thousands of other drugs), to help us escape reality. It's ironic because the brain generally works at it's best in a drug- free state, and getting drunk is not an intelligent thing to do,and is destructive in so many ways.
