Their food was either grown or it was hunted. Some of the crops were beans, avocado, squash, sweet patatoes, etc. Some of the things that were hunted were dog, duck, turkey, etc.

The Aztecs lived on the water for protection from predators. When I first learned this my thought was: "How do they grow their crops?" The answer is, is that they piled up mud and dirt to make fertile soil to grow. It worked for them.
