But when the Spanish came they were more like sitting ducks as the Spanish brought artillery that could reach the walls from afar and were able to build ships that could attack the fortifications. Furthermore, the horses of the Spanish were fast moving and able to conquer a large amount of ground. Without these technologies from Europe the Aztec capital was the most invincible city at the time.
