The Aztecs believed the gods responsibilities were to control every aspect of their world and give signs on how to live.

What Aztecs that were not killed on the battlefield or were enslaved, were struck down with a variety of different diseases mainly smallpox which killed well over 90% of all Native Americans who contracted the horrible disease.

The Aztecs were a member of the American Indian people domitant in Mexico before the Spanish conquest of the 16th century.

After much wandering and a few wars in the early 1300's,the Aztecs reached th Marshy islands in Lago de Texcoco or lake texcoco.Acording to Aztec legend ,an eagle perching on a cactus tree ,holding a snake in its beak,was a sign indicating where they should build their new capital city and so ,their capital Tenochtitlan was build at that place.

The city of Tenochtitlan was soon to become one of the largest cities in the world.The power of the Aztecs became more consolidated ,and they began to form alliances.

The Aztecs expanded their kingdom through a series of wars against lesser tribes.They fought the Tepanca tribe who lived on the western shore of lakeTexcoco ,and defeated them.

Because of a prophecy that said when they found an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in it's talon they would settle in that spot.The eagle and the cactus is false it is said that they saw an eagle perched on a cactus and then they a heard the voice of Huitzilopochtli say to them this is the spot for them to build their city.The eagle and the snake concept is post colonial.

Legend has it that the Aztec people would know where to build their city when they found an eagle on a cactus with a snake in its mouth in the middle of a lake. Luckily, they found such a thing and built their empire from there.

One was a lunar calendar based on the phases of the moon. Priests used this calendar to determine religious days and lucky days. The other was a solar calendar,based on the movement of the sun. It's similar to the calendar we use today

chocolate came from the Aztecs when the grew a cacao tree now end days its still the cacao bean but with TONS of sugar and fating stuff. The Maya were smaller states. City states or small kingdoms. The Inca were a huge empire.

The Aztecs had an empire in central Mexico that lasted a few hundred years. Their empire ended in about 1521. They used a calendar based on the Mayan Calendar. They seem to have originally come from the region of the Mexican Coast on the Pacific Ocean side. They combined their culture with the group that already lived there. So the Aztec's culture probably existed for about 300 years.
