In the 70s and 80s it has helped mainstream some of the worst things plaguing our society today. Even the rules foster negative influences. Example: rather than scoring being something of great achievement, requiring hard work and persistence, in basketball each team regularly scores 50 or more times in a game. If there was ever a professional basketball game that ended 0 - 0 there would literally be riots rather than an appreciation for the game itself as you have had in hockey, soccer, etc.

Things like the tiniest touch to a player shooting a ball draw 'penalties' where in more masculine sports like hockey or football a major part of the game is to play through the real threat of injury at any moment including when trying to score.

That depends upon the severity of the injury. At the minimum, the referee should call a foul. If there is a serious injury involved then it becomes a criminal offense which the police can investigate. There is no legal right to assault people just because you are engaged in a sport.

This all depends on your definition of dangerous. Relative to Rugby or Football basketball seems rather tame but relative to golf or tennis the sport seems brutal.

As strange as it may sound, basketball is actually one of the most dangerous sports. This is a theory agreed upon by many many doctors.

Contrary to what everyone believes, there is no "correct" way to shoot a basketball. This goes for left handed and right handed people. Whatever way works for you is the correct way.

First, put your left foot slightly forward (ahead of your right) and make sure your feet are shoulder width apart. Then have your shooting hand (in your case your left) behind the ball [in front of your face] and your right hand on the side, almost making a T shape. Then bend your legs and follow through. USE YOUR LEGS NO JUST YOUR ARMS!!!
