Calculus

The branch of mathematics that deals with the study of continuously changing quantities, with the use of limits and the differentiation and integration of functions of one or more variables, is called Calculus. Calculus analyzes aspects of change in processes or systems that can be modeled by functions. The English physicist, Isaac Newton, and the German mathematician, G. W. Leibniz, working independently, developed calculus during the 17th century.

How many thousandths of an inch are in 22 degrees at a diameter of 3.473?

First find the circumference, then multiply by 22/360 to get the arclength.

The circumference is pi time the diameter (or 2pi times the radius).

Pi times 3.473 is 10.9107512.

Multiplying that by 22, and dividing by 360 is .667 after rounding.

The answer is 667 thousandths.

How do you write a decimal in a fraction or mixed number in simplest form?

There are three different situations, corresponding to the three types of decimal numbers: terminating, repeating and those which are neither terminating nor repeating.

Terminating: If the decimal number has d digits after the decimal point, then rename it as a fraction whose numerator is the decimal number without the decimal point, and the denominator is 10^d or 1 followed by d zeros. For example, for 34.56 d = 2 so the denominator is 100. and the fraction is 3456/100.

Repeating: Until you become expert at this I suggest you do this in two stages (using c and d separately). Suppose there are c digits after the decimal place where the digits are non-repeating, and then you get a string of d digits which repeat. Then the numerator is the old original string including one lot of the repeated digits minus the original string with none of the repeating digits. The denominator is 10^c*(10^d - 1), which is a string of d 9s followed by c 0s. For example 123.26159159… There are 2 digits, "26", after the decimal point before the repeats kick in so c = 2, and the repeating string "159" is 3 digits long so d = 3. So the numerator is 12326159 – 123216 = 12313833 and the denominator is 99900 Therefore the fraction is 12313833/99900.

Non-terminating and non-repeating: There is no way to get a proper fraction since, by definition, this is an irrational number. The best that you can do is to round it to a suitable number of digits and then treat that answer as a terminating decimal.

In all cases, you should check to see if the fraction can be simplified.

What is the formula of exponegtial decay?

The general form is y(t) = a + y(0)*exp(-bt)where y(t) is value of the variable at time t.

the starting value is a + y(0) and the asymptotic value (as t -> infinity) is a.

3 boxes containing 2 marbles each first has 2 red second has 2 green third has 1 red 1 green the box labels are wrong removing 1 marble will make the labels correct what marble do you remove?

Make sure that they are connected correctly to the computer and make sure that they are plugged in to the right compartment. Check and see if they are plugged into the outlet(that you plug everything in like lamps and phones and vaccums and what not)... And you should probably turn them on :)

What is the gadient of y equals 9?

0. A line with constant y-value is horizontal, so its gradient is 0, meaning it neither goes up nor down.

Integrate1 plus x divided by x2 plus 1?

(1+x)/(x^2+1)

Let x^2+1 =u

2x dx = du

x dx = du/2

(1+x) / (x^2+1) = 1/(x^2+1) + x / (x^2+1)

Integral of x dx / (x^2+1) = (1/2) integral du / u = 1/2 ln|u| --(1)

Integral of 1 / (x^2+1) = arctan(x) --(2)

Adding (1) and (2)

Integral (1+x)/(x^2+1) = (1/2) ln(x^2+1) + arctan(x) + C

Sally saves ten cents every day for one year how much money does she save?

$36.50 if she just keeps it in a jar or a piggy bank. More if she invests it.

26 plus -3 - 11?

Not calculus. In the case of having a plus sign in front of a minus sign, the result is to subtract the number. The same goes for if you have a minus sign in front of a plus sign. Remember that if the signs are different, the result will be a subtraction, if the signs are the same, it will be an addition (ie a double negative (- -), or a double positive(+ +)). So this question, 26 + -3 -11 is the same as 26 -3 -11, so will equal 12.

Who gives the complex number?

I will be glad to give you a complex number. (i^i)^i is i raised to the i power and

raised to the i power again. This is not the same as i^3 which is -i but computes to .947 + .321i

What is 7x plus 4 minus2x plus 9?

7X + 4 - 2X + 9 = 0

Move all constants to the opposite side-

7X - 2X = -9 - 4

Simple addition and subtraction-

5X = -13

Get X by itself by division-

X = -13/5

There you go :)

What is the gradient of y equals 3x plus c?

Three, each time that x changes 1 y changes 3. C is where the start is.

If x equals 0 and y equals 1, what is the value of xy?

The answer is 0. In algebra, the multiplication symbol is not used, as it would be too commonly mistaken for the letter x, which looks the same, but serves a completely different purpose. Algebra, is in short, just a way of substituting numbers for letters, to make complicated sums and equations seem more manageable. If x equals 0 and y equals 1, then it is just another way of saying 0 x 1, which is obviously 0, because 0 lots of anything, is always 0.
