Cambodia's area is about 70,000 square miles, or about 181,000 square kilometers.

During Vietnam War, Cambodian King, Norodom Sihanouk wanted the South and North Vietnam to become one country again. He also allowed North Vietnamese to station in Cambodia. When US came to help South Vietnam fought the North, US overthrew Cambodian King and replaced with pro-American prime minister, Lon Nol who supported US. Lon Nol allowed Idiot Nixon and Kissinger to drop illegal bombs on Cambodia lands. Nixon and Kissinger did this illegally and kept secret from Americans in mainland. These two stupid dogs believed that North Vietnamese were in the location that they were targeted. But they weren't; American bombs Cambodia for about 2-3 years, more than 500,000 Cambodian civilians were killed and injured. Million of people became homeless and migrated to the capital city, Phnom Penh. While the country was in an ugly shape, Pol Pot(a communist leader) pretended to come and help Cambodians. Pol Pot was a Cambodian scholar who studied abroad in France. He opposed the western technologies. He wanted the country to go back to the year that Cambodia was an empire(12 century). In 1975, he demanded for the evacuation of the cities, all people were forced to march to the country sides, to doing tasks on the field with there bare hands. The Cambodian Genocide then took place from 1975-1979. Who to blame: Cambodia, Vietnam, and US(Only the two ******* stupid Nixon and Kissinger).

The currency is Riel - although in the cities US$ are used much more often, the ATMs don't even offer you Riel... ($1 = 4000R)

Usually Riel is given as change for amounts less than US$1.

Several sites spell it different ways, but the one that sounds best to me is "Aakoon". There is also "ar kun" and "orkun"

I'm Cambodian and can speak and write Cambodian. The closest phonetic in saying thank you is "Aw ko-oon" (pronounce Ko-oon as one syllable). Typically, we don't just say "thank you" by itself. We'd say "I thank you" (Knyoum Aw ko-oon) or "Sohm Aw ko-oon" (polite or official way) or "Sohm Aw Ko-oon J-rahn", Thank You Very Much. Hope that helps.

In World War II, Cambodia emerged unscathed. Though the Japanese occupied the country briefly after the fall of the Vichy French, it was a peaceful occupation that stuck to the vision of decolonisation. And in 2008 cold war with Thailand when Thai army came into Cambodian soil and claimed that those area were belong to Thailand. But the International Court of Justice had ruled that those dispute areas are belonged to Cambodia.

Well.. If I interpret the question correctly, then the answer would probably be in Vietnam. Due to the Ho Chi Minh Trail from the Vietnam War going through part of Cambodia, the American's had been bombing the area. Eventually, it led to the desperation of the people to regain organisation in their government, and they looked towards the Khmer Rouge troops and Pol Pot for support and guidance.

Cambodian belongs to the Mon-Khmer language family...which Vietnamese belongs to. The languages are somewhat similar. Cambodian is also similar to Thai although Thai comes from a different language family, only because a good portion of Thai borrows words from Cambodia. oh and there is some european/french influence, apparent in words such as "aeroplan" instead of "kapal hou" or "macin" for machine

Be more specific. If you are talking about the houses in America, it looks like any other house but with Cambodian traditional antiques. Usually you will see a banana tree in the front yard or back yard and also see a garden of vegetables next to the house or apartment. Also, there are usually Cambodian paintings of Angkor Watt or of Apsara Dancers. Also, most likely you would see a bucket in the bathroom next to the bath tub because Cambodians sometimes wash their clothes in the bathtub and hang it to dry on clothes line. Most do their laundry in regular washers and dryers or at Laundry mat. There are straw rugs that are usually placed in the middle of the living room. The kitchen should have a rice cooker and also a rice dispenser that holds about 15 pounds of grain of rice.
