Novacaine has not been the drug of choice for dental treatment for many decades. Several superior local anesthetics have been developed since novacaine was used. Novacaine has fallen out of use due to its relatively high incidence of allergic reactions.

Today, lidocaine is considered the gold standard against which all other local anesthetics are compared.

Today many dentists use a combination of local anesthetics such as Septocaine (fast acting) and lidocaine (long lasting).

For patients who have heart conditions or are highly susceptible to epinephrine (an ingredient in many local anesthetics) the most common alternative is mepivicaine 3% w/o epinephrine.

You may want to ask your dentist if you can take Tylenol (acetominophen) about an hour before the procedure. Tooth extractions are not at all as painful as they used to be; dentistry has advanced a lot in recent years. Your dentist may also give you something to take for any pain you may have after the extraction, as well as post- op instructions.

I suppose. Smoking shortly after having your wisdom teeth removed simply delays the healing process and increases the risk of having a complication call a dry socket. This is an extremely painful condition that is easily treated by the surgeon. Smoking does not guarantee you will get a dry socket, it only increases the risk. Go ahead, live on the edge, if you enjoy the most excruciating pain of your life!?

All your patients will give you dirty looks when you are busted eating a milky way bar.. and on a similar note, none of the neighbors kids will come trick or treating to your house for fear of receiving a toothbrush, floss or equally lame treat..

kind of makes you wonder if this could be a contributing factor to the remarkable suicide rate of dentists (#1 according to many sites which monitor suicide rates by profession....check it out)

Well first of all, it's very unusual that an 11-year old would have their wisdom teeth already. But, if you do have them... then don't worry about them unless your dentist tells you that they will cause problems in the future and you need to get them extracted. Or, if you are feeling pains (NOT growing pains) from the wisdom teeth, then schedule an appointment with a dentist to get x-rays and see where they are going. Hope this helps!

I am 11 and i have my first wisdom tooth my other three havent grown yet. I looked every website for the youngest age so far i am the youngest to have a wisdom tooth.

You can get wisdom teeth at most ages starting from about 8 upwards some people don't even get them im 13 and i have 2 wisdom teeth. Theey may start growing however and start again a few months later that's what happened with me.

Well I would start pushing on your tooth super hard or if you are super desperate then grind your teeth. Grinding them only works for the front teeth unless you want you back ones flat. Even more desperate use a clean wrench. I am very serious. I hoped this helps!

yes it does.if you do smoke you should clean your mouth out with sea salt and water.if you clean it out with mouthwash it could make your tooth sore.id advise you not smoke and as lil as possible

its not necessary ! chem and bio is all you truly need

get some lemon and some honey and mix them together in a drink and then drink it
