What happened during the Bosnian Genocide?
Bosnian War is not the Bosnian Genocide
The Bosnian War was from March 1, 1992 – December 14, 1995, which was a period of three years. However, the genocides were particular events during the war, that took place in the cities of Srebrenica and Žepa for only a few days. The Massacre at Srebrenica took place on July 11-13, 1995 and the Massacre at Žepa took place on July 25, 1995. Now, the fact that these massacres were only a few days long should not be seen to minimize the 8,489 Bosniaks who were butchered in these two massacres.
Causes of the Bosnian War
The Bosnian War was a civil war between the three major ethnic groups of Bosnians: Bosnian Serbs (who are Orthodox Christians), Bosnian Croats (who are Catholic Christians), and Bosnian Bosniaks (who are Sunni Muslims). For the most part the civil war pitted the Serbs against the Croats and Bosniaks. The underlying reason for this conflict was that, by and large, the Serbs wanted to keep Bosnia as a part of Yugoslavia and Greater Serbia whereas the Croats and Bosniaks wanted Bosnia to remain a multifaith and independent country. As a result, all of militants from all three sides engaged in small acts of ethnic cleansing. Eventually, on the Serb side, this rose to the level of genocide when Serb troops overtook the Bosniak-majority cities of Srebrenica and Žepa and executed the Bosniak civilian population.

Where does genocide most often occur?
Genocide mostly occurs in bad governs places, but China is the most where genocide is taking place. In the Chinese culture, the man is to take on the family money/business/fortune so every Chinese family wants a boy in the family, thus leaving the girls to be put into foster homes and/or killed. Because of this, China is mostly made of men and less of women. That is why its so hard for Chinese men to find Chinese women. This has been going on for many years and is still going on today. You must also think about the fact that the Chinese can only have one child per family, therefore a family can't take care of a boy and girl, so the girl will be the likely one to get booted out.

Was anything done to try and prevent the Armenian genocide from happening?
no
This is arguable... it is an opinion...I believe it could have been prevented because World War 1 had greatly weakened the Armenians and the war had prevented other countries who had wanted to help from helping because they had little monet and supplies to spare.
That depends on the genocide, but it is almost always instigated by the people who commit it.

Is Chairman Mao guilty of genocide?
Genocide: systematic killing of a racial or cultural group. Probably not. He did help prop up the failed attempt by Kim Il Sung to unite Korea, leading to the deaths of many U.S. and R.O.K. soldiers and civilians, but I would put most of the blame for the Korean war on Stalin and Roosevelt/Truman/Eisenhower. Mao was responsible for the deaths of 50 Million of his own country men, however (Some estimates put that number at more that 70 Million).
What led to the Rwandan genocide?
The two major ethnic groups in Rwanda (Hutu and Tutsi) had a history of competition and conflicting territorial claims. A civil war with the Hutu-dominated government was fought from 1990 to 1993 by a Tutsi rebel force (RPF) based in Uganda, and continued despite a cease-fire agreement.
After a similar civil war broke out in neighboring Burundi, the Hutu presidents of both Burundi and Rwanda were assassinated in April, 1994. This triggered a Hutu-led massacre of hundreds of thousands of Rwandans, both Tutsi and moderate Hutus. This was only ended after the takeover of Rwanda by the Tutsi (RPF) military government.
Did Pol Pot kill more people than Adolf Hitler?
No. While both were awful, terrible people, Pol Pot is only responsible for killing (estimated) around 2 million people. Just the Jews killed in the Holocaust numbered around 6 million. Throw in the other people killed as part of the Holocaust (Polish and other Slavic people, homosexuals, communists, socialists, people with disabilities, the list goes on and on...) and then World War II, and Hitler wins that grim contest.
