It is much too SMALL. 1 goldfish needs a minimum of 10 gallons of water. It must also have a permanently running 'cycled' filter and it must also have at least 50% of its water replaced every week. It is preferable to keep the goldfish in a larger tank so that two or more can be kept, as goldfish are social fish.

A two gallon bowl would be suitable for a single male betta IF and ONLY IF a suitable small filter can be found that does not disturb the surface of the water too much, and a heater can be found that does not present an electrical hazard in such a small tank - 25 watts or less. If no heater is available, you could keep a single paradise fish provided the tank has a filter. I strongly recommend that you don't attempt to keep any fish in a tank smaller than 5 gallons, especially if you are a beginner, because it is so much more difficult to keep the water quality good in such a small volume of water.

i dont really know how 2 answer but i have a goldfish named bozo who has lived 4 six years. he lloks the same as when i got him exept 4 a few tumor looking things ob his head.

A fat goldfish is unhealthy, and the reason for the fattness of some goldfish is because of over-feeding. Though a goldfish owner may think that their goldfish are really hungry because they eat everything the owner puts in, a goldfish will really eat anything as mcuh as it can like it is really hungry. The biggest mistake goldfish owners do is overfeeding their poor goldfish. I always give my goldfish one day of fasting per week, but a fasting day isn't necesarry when you feed it the right, small amount.

Very dark, all the time, but truthfully it isn't healthy for the goldfish to be subjected to such conditions and it is just plain cruel to force a goldfish to stay in a dark room all the time.

It depends what food the other fish eats. Bettas are carnivorous, so they eat meat. If the betta food is meat (which it most likely is) and the fish you want to feed is a also a freshwater carnivore, then, chances are, you can feed the fish betta food.

Beta fish are solitary fish and generally will attack/annoy any other fish until they are dead. Check with your local pet shop that sell fish to inquire about what, if any, fish can co-exist with Beta. it all depends on how aggressive you betta fish is, i own two male bettas, i placed my first one in the tank with 3 other goldfishes and they get along fine, however when i replaced the 1st betta with the 2nd one, it was the more aggressive one and attacked my other fishes...... my suggestions is to buy a seperator for the betta and have it get use to the other fishes for the first couple of weeks then place them together. just a heads up, doing this can cause a betta to get stressed out, so be on a look out for simptosn of ick hello!

No. If it's small enough for the Goldfish to try and eat it, it will. If it's a larger type of crab, like Fiddler or Rainbow, then these need salty water and land to get out on and will try and catch and eat a Goldfish.

No. What happens in a fish tank is that ammonia is produced from the fish's waste (it is excreted through the gills, and their poo and uneaten food rapidly breaks down into ammonia). Plecos, by the way, are very messy fish. There is no way to prevent this from happening, and ammonia is extremely toxic to fish, even in tiny amounts. So the ammonia needs to be removed. The bacteria that change the ammonia into non toxic substances live in the filter, so without a filtration system the ammonia in the tank will build up and build up, killing the fish very fast. In order to sufficiently dilute the ammonia without a filter, you would have to do huge water changes several times a day, and in the sort of tank (100 gallons) required to support a fish as big as a plecostomus, this would be logistically impossible.

As far as overall look and behaviour outside of breeding season, no. During breeding season, your female may become a bit fatter with eggs, and your male will get breeding stars on his gill plates and along the pectoral fins; these look like tiny white bumps.

In most cases it's due to overfeeding and constipation. Ryukin goldfish are more prone to this due to their body shape, so make sure that you feed cooked & deshelled peas at least once a week to help avoid constipation.

Domestic cats are highly predatorial, wary, inquisitive but not very persistent creatures by nature when an easier meal is available. It is more of a play and curiosity scenario rather than a full attack, and may only last a few seconds to a couple of minutes, then it usually looks for more mischief to get up to after a short nap.

A Terrapin has a very hard shell and is usually sufficiently protected from most household cat attacks by tightly squeezing itself inside its' shell.

Some cats on the very rare occasion, have been known to persist for long periods and use their claws to dig inside the shell to eventually get a hold on some fleshy part, and may eventually make the poor terrapin stressed enough to lose its struggle to remain tightly packed in its shell. Sometimes fiddler crabs or other crab species are sold for aquariums. Most require brackish or even saltwater. Few thrive in freshwater. Most require live insects, worms, and/or small fish to eat. They can harass or kill other small animals in the tank with them. Many have nasty pinchers. For this reason, they are best suited to a set-up solely for them. Almost all of the crabs sold for "freshwater" tanks require a haul-out spot. The water level must be low enough to allow them to get in and out of the water with ease. If denied the ability to get out of the water, they will eventually die. They most likely also require full spectrum lighting over the basking site but studies probably have not been done on this. Fiddler crabs and similar species stay relatively small, at a few inches in size.

Provided you have a combined heater/thermostat, thermometer, and filter and the tank is set up with substrate, plants and lights, you could have fish from many species in your little aquarium. Many small Tetras come to mind as do several small Gouramies, small Danios and even some of the small Cichlids like Rams. The rule to remember is 1" of fish needs 1 gallon of water so that you don't overstock and have disease and other problems.

There are many reasons why a goldfish would die; it may have died of old age, poor water quality, overfeeding, deformity, or the most common reason is disease.
