Can you use parachute fabric on the moon?

Parachute fabric would not be suitable for use on the moon as there is no atmosphere to create drag necessary for parachutes to work. Additionally, the extreme temperatures and lack of breathable air on the moon would pose challenges to the functionality of any fabric. Specialized materials and technologies would be needed for any equipment used on the moon.

Who are the inventors of the hot air balloon?

The hot air balloon was invented by the Montgolfier brothers, Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Étienne, in France in 1783. They conducted the first successful manned flight in a hot air balloon on June 4 of that year.

When was the first glass mirror made?

The first glass mirrors were being made in the 13th century by the Romans then the development of glass mirrors began in the 14th century in Venice and Murano, Italy

Esther Wallace , University of Manchester.

Who inveneted the microscope?

The microscope was invented by Zacharias Janssen and his father Hans in the late 16th century. They were Dutch eyeglass makers who are credited with creating the first compound microscope.

What is a celestial globe?

Celestial globes were used to represent the stars and constellations of the night sky and record their positions with respect to each other and a co-ordinate system. They were also used as analogue computers to resolve problems involving the stars.

In the most common form of celestial globe, a number of stars were marked on a sphere, and the constellation figures delineated. The sphere was mounted by its poles (corresponding to the celestial poles) on a metal circle, or meridian. The ecliptic and equator were marked and divided (into degrees) on the globe, to measure celestial longitude and right ascension. Declination was measured using divisions marked on the meridian. The globe was placed in a stand, which included a broad horizontal band, known as the horizon. The elevation of the pole of the globe above the horizon could be varied to adjust for the user's latitude. Once so adjusted, the rotation of the globe was analogous to the (apparent) diurnal rotation of the stars, for that latitude. Since the ecliptic and equator are marked, the globe could be used to work out the times of rising and setting of the stars, or the time of their culmination (the time when an object reaches its highest point in the sky).

Where did Laser Tag originate?

The game of laser tag originiated from technology from the U.S. Armed Forces wherein they developed a system called MILES or Multiple Intergrated Laser Engagement System that would allow them to hold combat simulations. The first public sector invention was the Star Trek Electronic Phaser Gun set in 1979. The first actual laser tag system and arena was Photon and opened in Dallas, Texas in 1984 which incorporated the use of a scoring system and was played indoors.

Why was the first pair of glasses made?

The first pair of glasses were made to assist with correcting vision problems, such as myopia or farsightedness. They were invented around the 13th century by Italian monks to help improve their vision for reading and other close-up tasks.

What inventions were made in the last 5 years?

Some notable inventions in the last five years include CRISPR gene-editing technology, reusable rockets by SpaceX, advanced artificial intelligence systems, such as GPT-3, and the development of mRNA vaccines like the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines.

What did the first light bulb look like?

The first light bulb was invented by Thomas Edison in 1879. It had a carbonized bamboo filament inside a glass vacuum bulb. When an electric current passed through the filament, it would glow and produce light.

Why did Leonardo da vinci invent flying machines?

Leonardo da Vinci designed flying machines because he was fascinated by the idea of human flight and was inspired by birds. He sought to replicate their ability to soar through the skies and explore the possibilities of aerial transportation. His inventions were visionary for his time and laid the foundation for the development of modern aviation.

In what country were eyeglasses invented?

Eyeglasses were invented in Italy in the late 13th century. They were initially made from two magnifying glasses framed together.

What can track storms at different altitudes?

Weather radar systems, such as Doppler radar, can track storms at different altitudes by using different scan angles to capture the storm's structure from the ground up. Doppler radar can detect precipitation particles at various altitudes within a storm and provide information on wind speed and direction to help meteorologists forecast severe weather. Additionally, weather balloons equipped with radiosondes can collect data on temperature, humidity, and wind speed at different altitudes to help track and monitor storms.

What did the first rocket have to over come to get in to space?

The first rocket had to overcome Earth's gravity to reach space. It needed to generate enough thrust to propel itself upward and break free from the pull of gravity, allowing it to reach the necessary speed to enter into Earth's orbit.

Why were eyeglasses made?

Eyeglasses were made to help individuals who have difficulty seeing objects clearly due to vision problems such as nearsightedness or farsightedness. They work by correcting refractive errors in the eye, allowing light to focus properly on the retina to improve vision.

Who developed the first liquid fueled rocket?

The first flight of a vehicle powered by a liquid-rocket took place onMarch 16, 1926 at Auburn, Massachusetts, when American professor Robert H. Goddard launched a rocket which used liquid oxygen and gasoline as propellants. The rocket, which was dubbed "Nell", rose just 41 feet during a 2.5-second flight that ended in a cabbage field, but it was an important demonstration that liquid rockets were possible.

How can you tell time with a sundial on a cloudy day?

Unfortunately, a sundial relies on the position of the sun's shadow to tell time, so it isn't possible to accurately tell time using a sundial on a cloudy day when the sun is obscured.

What limitations did the sundial have?

1. Can only tell the time, not the date. 2.Obviously needs sun, not clearly viewable on a cloudy/dark day. 3. Needs to be in a certain position in order to be accurate.

What is the function of the corneal reflex?

The corneal reflex is a protective mechanism that helps prevent injury to the eye. When the cornea is touched or irritated, the reflex causes the eyelids to blink rapidly to help remove the irritant and protect the eye. This reflex is important for maintaining eye health and preventing damage to the cornea.

What year was the flying shuttle invented?

The flying shuttle was invented by John Kay in 1733.

Did Thomas Armat invent the projector?

Thomas Armat did not invent the projector, but he did work on the development of early motion picture technology in collaboration with Thomas Edison. Armat and Edison had a legal dispute over the invention of the projector, leading to the creation of the Vitascope, which is considered one of the early motion picture projectors.

The advantage and disadvantage of a barometer?

Advantage: A barometer can accurately measure changes in atmospheric pressure, which helps predict changes in the weather. Disadvantage: Barometers require calibration and maintenance to ensure accuracy, and they can be sensitive to factors like temperature and altitude.

When was lighting first invented?

Artificial lighting dates from torches and oil lamps used by the Sumerians, Babylonians and Egyptians. Oil and candles were the standard until the introduction of coal gas in the 19th century (the precursor of natural gas). The introduction of electric lighting came from work by Thomas Edison in the 1880's. The fluorescent bulb developed in the 1930's took over the commercial lighting market within 12 years after its introduction in 1938. Similarly, the compact version of the bulbs (CFL) rapidly grew in popularity after the mid-1990's due to their lower energy use. For uses other than area lighting, the LED (light-emitting diode) is the new 21st century standard.

What did Albert Michelson invent?

Albert Michelson is best known for conducting the Michelson-Morley experiment in 1887, which aimed to measure the speed of light and detect the presence of the hypothetical luminiferous aether. This experiment provided evidence against the existence of the aether and contributed to the development of Einstein's theory of relativity.
