How do you transpose trumpet music to trombone music?

Well, Trumpet is in Bb and Trombone is in C, so transposing is the same as it would be from clarinet to flute (which makes sense to me then).

First, the key changes....so if you were in Bb for trumpet, you would be in C for trombone...you take away 2 flats/add 2 sharps if going from trumpet to trombone.

Once the key is taken care of, then you can transpose by just taking the trumpet note and putting it down a whole step.

Then, you transpose it into bass clef, which is pretty self-explanatory, but you just take that note and put it down an octave or so, into the trombone's range.

Actually, part of that answer is incorrect. If the trumpet music is in B-flat, Trombone music (a concert pitch instrument) will be one step below that in A-flat.

What are the best trumpet brands?

When it comes to trumpet brands, its best not to look at the name for everything. It has to be about how it feels to you and how it sounds. I tried several different brands before I made my selection. However, the brand has a little bit to do with it. It's just knowing which ones are made well. For example, i would NOT recommend playing on a Bundy due to its cheap construction, primarily made for starter students. I personally play on a Benge but I have friends who play on King, Bach, Schilke, and Getzen. Its all up to how you feel with it. And do ask different music stores if they can bring in multiple models for you to try so you can have the best experience.

Some manufacturers known for quality:

  • Most companies owned by Steinway Musical Properties
    • Benge
    • Bach
    • Conn
    • King
  • Getzen
  • Schilke
  • Taylor
  • Yamaha

What is a Concert F on trumpet?

A concert F on a trumpet is the G note. Since a trumpet is pitched in Bb, trumpet players will always play one note above the concert pitch. Along with that trumpet players will always play in a different key from the concert pitch. Trumpet players will add two sharps to the concert pitch. i.e. If the concert pitch is Eb, 3 flats, then trumpet players will play in the key of F, 1 flat.

What is the brand and model of trumpet that Chris Botti plays?

Chris Botti has played on two different trumpets in his professional career, his first horn was the horn he played in College and on his first two albums. This horn I now own and is in my collection. It is a Calicchio 1S2. The second horn is the one he traded for this horn and it is a 1939 Martin handcraft committee. The other person who posted who said 1939 Martin Connstellation got confussed. The connstellation is Conn and it came out in 1956, the 38B. The connstellation came in several models for both the trumpet and the cornet.
