Was erasures song a little respect a cover version of an ABBA song?

No, "A Little Respect" was written by Vince Clarke and Andy Bell of Erasure in 1988. Erasure did record an EP of several ABBA tracks in 1992, Abba-esque, which produced the band's first number one single in the UK. The ABBA tunes covered on that EP were "S.O.S.", "Take a Chance on Me", "Lay All Your Love on Me", and "Voulez-Vous".

What city does ABBA sing about in I am the City?

"I Am the City" was a track recorded in 1982, intended for a ninth Abba studio album that was never finished. The track was first released on the album "More Abba Gold" in 1993. It's not clear that lyricist Bjorn Ulvaeus was writing about any city in particular, though the band always closely identified with their home town, Stockholm. But no doubt Bjorn was also inspired by the many world cities the band visited during their 11 years performing together. And we know he had a fondness for London, since he ended up living there for many years.

How many numbers ones did ABBA have?

If you're speaking globally, Abba had at least 24 songs that peaked at #1 in one country or more between 1972 and 1982.

In terms of chart performance, Abba was most successful in Belgium, where they had 15 number ones. (Ironically, perhaps, one of them was not "Waterloo", which was one of the band's biggest hits. The real battle of Waterloo was fought in Belgium.)

Abba's most successful English-language market was Ireland, with 12 #1s. The band had eight #1s in the UK, six in Australia, and four in the US. (Including one #1 on the pop chart, two on the adult chart and one on the dance chart). Abba never peaked higher than #2 on the Canadian pop chart.

Here are the 24 Abba songs that reached #1 in at least one country:

What member of ABBA was the most popular?

Abba was very much an ensemble act and in my opinion it would be difficult to determine a "most popular" member. The majority of Abba tracks did not feature one solo singer and, of those that did, three of the four members shared lead duties. That said, if forced to choose, many fans would likely name Agnetha Faltskog as a favourite. Note only does she have a slight edge in the numbers of lead vocals she performed (on 11 of the band's 40 top singles) but she was often celebrated for her classic blond Scandinavian beauty. According to some music journalists at the time, she had the "best bottom in pop", an accolade she scorned.

Is Slipping Through your Fingers an ABBA song?

What is the real reason why the musical group ABBA broke up?

Abba never officially disbanded and had already recorded several tracks for a planned 9th studio album when they took a break in 1983 to work on other projects. (On their last public appearance, on British TV in December 1982, they insisted they were not calling it quits.) Agnetha Faltskog and Frida Lyngstad both revived their solo careers, recording new albums (Lyngstad in collaboration with Phil Collins), while Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson began their three-year partnership with Tim Rice to write the rock musical "Chess".

But it was also true that the fun had gone out of working together: both couples had divorced by late 1981 and there was a sense that they'd lost their connection with the music-buying public. When Agnetha recorded the vocal to their last track, "The Day Before You Came", she said she felt it was the end.

What was the name of ABBA's first album?

Ring Ring, released March 26, 1973, is considered the first ABBA album, although it was originally credited to "Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Frida". The group didn't adopt the acronym "ABBA" until the summer of 1973.
