What will shiatsu be like without the concept of qi?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Hi, I'm a shiatsu therapist, so I feel qualified to answer this. Without the concept of Qi, the treatment would be exactly the same, as Shiatsu is defined by the techniques used. Without the existence of Qi (which is what I think you are getting it) a Shiatsu would be more like a sports massage, physiotherapy massage or deep tissue massage, as they are 'similar' in technique... but only loosely.

The center is named as "najbolji centar za profesionalnu masazu u Srbiji" - something like top center for professional massage in Serbia (by an international jury) and I think the quality is according to this award. Very clean, good prices - it is 4 x cheaper than in my hometown...

Is there a pressure point that will make someone fall?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes, there certain pressure points on the body that when an ample amount of force is applied the body can be overcome with pain and the victim will fall down or temporary paralysis is achieved. Also, temporary paralysis can be achieved the same way at certain targets of the body such as the dead-leg technique. There is one in the middle of the solar plexus and a double strike to the base of the neck on both sides will send an electric shock down the spine sometimes causing paralysis and always pain.
