Both have open space, a green attitude, mountains, great people, good hunting and fishing, both espouse conservative values and an appreciation for native Americans. Alaska wins on most counts, Colorado wins on roads, emplyment and a year round environment. For the outdoors go to Colorado. For the Big Outdoors Alaska is your choice. Colorado suffers from an abundance or religious zealots, Alaska has bugs in abundance, for bigger fish and Bridges to nowhere select Alaska. Both States suffer serious deficiences. Both contain beauty in abundance, and both are a joy to live in.

It is believed that the earliest native inhabitants of what is now Alaska were the Thule people - who spread from there to the east and are believed to be the ancestors of all the Inuit peoples from Alaska to Greenland. They seem to have inhabited the coast of Alaska at least as early as 1000 CE. The Inuit/Inupiat are the descendants of these original inhabitants and are considered Alaska natives.
