Alfred Hitchcock was a British producer and filmmaker who in the suspense and psychological thriller genres, has created several techniques. Hitchcock moved to Hollywood after a career in the UK in silent films and some talkies. He became an American citizen in 1956 while still retaining his British citizenship.

He had several which became themes in some of his movies. Hitchcock's fear of heights (altophobia) was obvious in his film Vertigo. He also had a fear of eggs (ovophobia). Hitch had a life-long fear of police (politiaphobia). This fear is played out in his movie Psycho when the character Marion (played by Janet Leigh) is questioned and then followed by a suspicious police officer. This went along with his fear of being falsely accused of a crime which was the theme of his movie Frenzy.
