Angelfish can survive on a basic diet of flake food. However, in order for your fish to grow big, beautiful, healthy, and fully develop, it is recommended to feed them live foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, etc. For more information, check in with your local pet stores or join a tropical fish forum.

These fish feed on guppies, smaller fish. They also eat plankton. A flaky substance called cichlid flakes and also they are on a special diet where they eat hatched Brine Shrimp and sometimes eat a substance called Angelfish flakes.

Freshwater Angelfish usually do typically well on flake, pellets and frozen blood worms. Saltwater Angel fish typically do well on marine flake, marine pellets and frozen mysis shrimp. A special species specific formula for Angels of both types can normally be found at your LFS.

What size tank do you need for an angelfish in cubic centimetre?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You would need quite a large tank, as angelfish can grow HUGE. Fully developed angelfish can grow quite big, so if you want three angelfish, I would firstly recommend an extremely tall tank. They like tall tanks because of their tall figures. The tank would need to be at least fifty gallons, but that's the minimum. It's preferable if you have a bigger tank, to prevent stunted growth, early deaths, etc. My recommendation is a tall tank that is preferably more than fifty gallons.

What adaptation did the Freshwater Angelfish make to live in its environment?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Adaptations-
1.) Compressed bodies with a thin and very slim shape enable Angelfish to slip through thickets of plant growth to escape a fight with another angel, or more importantly, escape danger.
2.) wild Angelfishes natural coloration consists of a silvery background with three or more dark brown stripes. This is very effective for hiding from predators especially in a dark enviroment. One stripe extends over their eye to further hide them from detection...
3.) Angelfish are able to stand "stock-still" for several minutes this also leads to a great advantage as to not be seen by predators in the wild.

Angelfish are also very cautious of the cichlid family and will immediately take cover in the presence of danger.

Can female angelfish live in the same tank?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Angelfish are a schooling/shoaling species and should be kept in groups of no less than 5 if you with to avoid fighting and bullying problems in the growing young fish. 2 males will be OK until they reach breeding size and condition and then there could be fights as they try to mate up with females. I very much doubt if you can sex your angelfish anyway. It is extremely difficult. Particularly when two females will commonly get together and spawn.
