A sclerotic lesion is slow growth, regeneration of the bone. L3 is the 3rd spinal vertebrae. If there is a sclerotic lesion with in l3. It simply means there is a condition, or bone defense located with in L3 .
There are different forms of arthritis that affect the spine and different conditions with different names resulting from these.
developmental cerebellar tonsillar ectopia is a finding that may be associated with exertional headache or headache precipitated by Valsava maneuver or coughing
Ankylsing Spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder. It is an arthritic condition generally affecting the spine although it may also affect large joints such as knees, jaw, ankles, and shoulders. As can also attack the rib cage, limiting chest expansion and inhibiting breathing.
It ususally affects males 17 to 22 years of age. It is also found among the female population. AS is mostly found among the population with B+ blood and a gene called hlaB27. This is found by taking a blood sample. Diagnosis of AS is a process of eliminating other conditions that are similar in appearance. AS is also called 'the great imitator' as the condition may resemble many conditions including cancer and multiple sclerosis. A patient may be diagnosed by taking x-rays and a simple blood test.
AS can also attack internal organs around the spinal region of the body and can cause secondary conditions such as hammer toe and iritis. Over time, the spine or other joints may fuse together causing what is known as 'poker spine' and the person will not be able to bend over at all. The condition can become debilitating but not often fatal. The disorder can cause other autoimmune and chronic disorders that may lead to fatalities due to kidney disease or swollen heart. Some patients have been known to die from medications used to treat the illness.
The presence of hlaB27 does not mean the person will develope AS but the gene is found in over 97% of sufferers with AS. People with AS should keep x-rays to a minimum as this has been shown to be contradictory in some people and may cause leukemia.
YES. YES. YES. I have AS, without oxycodone (Perc 10/325), I am in CONSTANT pain, can't sleep more than 3-5 hours at a time and basically just hate life because of the pain. Without my Percecets I wouldn't be able to attend college or work. Oxycodone allows me to live a normal, relatively pain-free life. If you're in pain 24/7, then get the drug. If you really do not need the drug to live normally and enjoy life, then please don't use it.
Non Steroidal AntiInflammatory Drugs, (NSAID's), like Naprosyn or Indocin are used to relieve pain and stiffness. In severe cases, Azulfidine, another drug to reduce inflammation, or methotrexate, an immune suppressing drug, is recommended. In cases where chronic therapy is needed, potential drug side effects must be taken into consideration. Corticosteroid drugs are effective in relieving symptoms, but are usually reserved for severe cases that do not improve when NSAID's are used. To avoid potential side effects, treatment withhttp://www.answers.com/topic/corticosteroid is usually limited to a short amount of time.

There are many possible treatments available for spondylitis. Treatment is based on the kind of spondylitis, as there are different kinds. This includes medication, excercise and physical theraphy, postural practices, hot and cold theraphy and finally, surgery.
Doctors usually diagnose the disease simply by the patient's report of pain and stiffness. Doctors also review spinal and pelvic x rays since involvement of the hip and pelvic joints is common.
There are several tests your doctor may run.
· HLA-B27 antigen test is positive.
· A spine X-ray or pelvis X-ray shows characteristic findings.
· ESR may or may not be elevated.
· Complete Blood Count may show mild anemia.
What you arereferring too is probably called Ankylosis. this takes place in most older people and some that are younger as a result of trauma or genetic disposition, For a bit more information on the terminology surrounding the back Go to the related link(Orthospine Anatomy and Keyword Index) Below
As far as I know (and I've done extensive research in the field of Autoimmune diseases) it is an almost impossible endeavor to treat them together. An Autoimmune Disease is either treated with steroids or a special immune supressor, either way, the immune is suppressed and is less able to do its job. Unfourtunately, with Tuberculosis, you need your immune system to fight it off along with Antibiotics. Effectively making your immune system useless with an immune supressor or steroids, is going to put your life in danger with Tuberculosis.
It basically boils down to there is a build up of bone Probably the result of some form of arthritis's. that is growing into a nerve restricting it. this results in pain and other problems.
It sounds as though you may have some sort of arthritis. However to find out what exactly the problem is you will need to see a medic and have some tests done. This would be a wise course of action as arthritis left untreated can bring about irreparable damage to joints. It wont necessarily stop in your hands.
It is difficult to say what causes what, but AS can be associated with pericarditis or vice versa.

It really depends about the stage and severity and whether or not a treatment is being taken. Many people live long, eventful lives with Ankylosing Spondylitis with treatment and excercise.
