Can you have 2 male guppies in the same tank as 3 female guppies should i buy 3 more females guppies?

Yes that is enough. You usually want to keep a two to three female to one male ratio. The male will constantly try to breed with the females. If there was only one the female you get stressed out and die. So make sure to keep two to three females

Can you cross breed a guppy with a platy?

yes, sometimes you can. It just depends on how mellow your betta is, and if you have enough planting in your aquarium so the platy can hide ( just in case). I would also recommend you get more than one platy, again just in case. For the most part though, they should get along pretty well, just keep in mind that no matter what you put in with a male betta, it won't like it, they like to be solitary. I hope this helped!

Mollies and clown fish together?

Clown fish and the anemone both do favors for each other. The anemone

provides shelter for the clown fish and the fish cleans it in turn i guess.

In that case i always say research and don't be lazy.

Can guppies breed with neon tetras?

You have to put them in a big tank at 70 to 75 degrees.Males blue line are straighter and slimmer. Females have their blue line curved. No heater needed.Filter is not needed because the fry gets sucked.Dont feed parents during breeding.Feed them a good amount before breeding.

Why does your pink kissing gourami stay at the bottom of the tank?

If you give a bit of information about the tank and the water parameters someone may be able to help you more. All I can do at this stage is say what they need and then you will have to see if that is what yours is getting. A reasonable sized tank (15gals minimum) because Kissing gourami (Helostoma temminicki), although they are air breathing Anabantids also breath with their gills and will grow to about 12" long. Water temperature around 73F to 76F. A cycled filter to keep the water clean and liveable. Regular feeding with some kind of algae rich fish food.

How do you know if your tetra is pregnant?

It is most unlikely that you will have neon tetra eggs in your tank without you going to great lengths to make the water perfect for neons to breed. Even if the Neons have spawned, it is almost impossible to see their tiny (almost microscopic and translucent) eggs which would be sticking to the fine leaved plants. The first thing you would notice would be tiny glasslike slivers wriggling and sticking to the glass and plants in the tank after they have developed into wrigglers.

What should you do when your guppies and tetra fish just had babies?

You need to separate the newborn fry from other larger fish or you risk having all your fry eaten. Fry from livebearers (guppies, swordtails, platties, mollies, etc.) can accepts powered flake food, other live foods such as baby brine shrimp are excellent foods, feed a small amount every 3 to 4 hours during the day.

What fish get along with angelfish?

Angelfish grow quite large and can bully, even their own kind. It is wise to buy several youngsters and let them pair off, then keep the pair and sell the others. You shouldn't have any problems with shoaling fish and South American species would include most of the tetra family. Also fish such as pencil fish and head standers, dwarf cichlids and catfish should be fine. The thing to avoid is other species of angelfish (I once had one badly bullied) and fish with exotic flowing fins such as betta. Also do not purchase very small fish such as rasboras (I would stick to all South American species anyway, personally - I think it's more interesting).

Do guppies lose their gravid black spot before giving birth?

No, what you are actually seeing when looking at the gravid spot is the eggs inside the mother fish. The gravid spot does not go away until the mother has given birth to her young. The spot will get very dark before the fry are born, because they will begin to hatch out of their eggs before the birth.

What adaptations help the queen angelfish survive?

The emperor Angelfish has special adaptations that have helped it succeed in its environment. One of the adaptations is the bright color and also has the ability to emit poison for its protection.

Something long thin and white is coming out of my gourami fish under his body?

Your Gourami has a stomach infection and what you see comming from its anus is the lining of the bowel. This condition is usually caused by poor water conditions usually as a direct result of poor or insufficient filtration and insufficient water changes. By improving the water by doing more regular water changes (at least 50% weekly) and getting a more efficient filter and letting it cycle properly you may save the fishes life.

Can Siamese fighting fish be in a tank with tetras?

I really do not recommend it, although they may be able to live with them. The reason why putting guppies and a betta (Siamese fighting fish) together is not a good idea is because guppies have colourful long fins, just like those of a male betta. Therefore, the betta may flare and fight/bother the guppies. And for the betta, it will be very stressful as he will feel the need to constantly defend his territory from the guppies. However, I'm not saying it's not possible (just not a good idea) - if you have a big enough tank with lots of places to hide in, then you can try.

bettas are top dwellers and preffer to live with middle or bottom dwellers, things like plattys or shrimp. guppies are not only coloured like bettas but also top dwellers so may cause comfrontation.

yes and no. it depends on the size of the tank and the temperment of the betta. i have a betta in a 65 gallon tank with 6 guppies (3 females and 3 males), the males are pretty colourful, but he never bothers them and he never flares at them. he knowns they are in the tank as he has swam next to them.

of course it probably wouldn't work if you had a betta in a 5 gallon tank and you put in 20 guppies

if you put them into a tank with guppies which are not multi coloured they are fine, the female seems to be more aggresive towards them than the male

How long does it take for a neon tetra fish to have babies?

Neon tetras (Paracheirodon innesi) Do not have babies, they lay eggs and the eggs are fertilised outside the body. They are notoriously hard to breed requiring semi darkness, very soft water and pH around 5.8 to 6 and a temperature of 80F.

Would seven guppies do okay in 2 gallon tank?

1 inch of fish per gallon so you about 18 but you will have the guppies eaten or the goldfish's fin bitten off as goldfish like to eat fish that are smaller than them (other than goldfish) and guppies are fin nippers so I would be careful or not keep them together

good luck

What is a neon tetras enemies?

I've had trouble with my African cicalids eating them...

Do fancy guppies lay eggs?

you can't force them to breed but you can put 2-3 females with 1 male in a separate tank and eventually you will get fry(babies). In my tank i have mollie fry and previously had platy fry whish has now grown up and are adults

How does a molly fish protect itself?

nipping other fishes delicate fins r get in2 a fight!!!

bad choice 2 keep tis fish as a pet but 1 male and a couple of female will keep u out of a lot of fights!!!

=D

Does neon tetra fish eat guppies?

No, probably not. They're just as small/ smaller than guppies... however...

The Neons are a shoal fish and like to be kept in groups of around 6 or more. If they're in smaller groups they will be nervous and would probably nip on the guppies fins. If the fin nipping becomes serious enough the guppy could die.

How long do African cichlids live?
