Ativan is a controlled substance due to the fact it is quick to enter bloodstream and a person gets results fast. Be careful if you get off this drug and ween off or it can be a living nightmare for up to a month depending on the dose. Also if a person has been on a high dose,say 4-6mgs a day for anxiety for a long time(years) and goes to a jail where it's not allowed it needs to be illegal at least not to wean that person off if the person proves to have been prescribed it. It should be allowed anyway but definitely be tapered off. It's inhumane! I have gone through it more than once in jail. Enough people need to get together about that and put an end to it just like any controlled substances. And I have seen others go through it to. The last time a man was unable to hold his lunch tray or meals due to uncontrolled shaking leading to seizures. He was withdrawling from methadone.

I'm NOT sure about klonopin, I don't take that drug.

My doctor said that taking ambien (zolpidem) together with ativan (lorazepam) is safe, since it functions on different receptors in the brain. So there shouldn't be a synnergic effect.

Lorazepam is a Benzodiazepine drug that is used to treat conditions such as Anxiety, Insomnia, Acute Seizures. Lorezapam has strong Sedative/Hypnotic effects. This is why its used for sleep related conditions.

Ativan sublingual is generally used to manage acute stress. The sublingual route allows medication to be absorbed by the body very quickly therefore it is able to treat the anxiety very quickly.

Clonazepam (Klonopin) and lorazepam (Ativan) are medications in a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. They are usually used to treat anxiety attacks, panic attacks, to relax patients or to induce sleep in some cases of insomnia. Taking both drugs together can have a additive effect and make you considerably drowsy, lethargic, and/or knock you out depending on the dose of the drugs and your sensitivity to the agents. It may be dangerous to take both together if you have certain medication conditions so it is always a good idea to ask your pharmacist before taking these medications.

It should be safe if you take no more than 1 mg and have 1 or 2 drinks at most. However, you will feel a buzz from this and should not drive or operate machinery. Even if you are legally just barely under the alcohol limit, you will be impaired like you had a few extra drinks.

If you take larger amounts of ativan, and/or larger amounts of alcohol you can make yourself sick possibly even inducing respiratory arrest resulting in an emergency room visit.

However, if you are more sensitive than the average person perhaps no amount should be mixed.

I checked the interactions for REAL Sudafed (not the Sudafed PE stuff) and ativan and it said that there are no interactions. But, your safest bet would be to call a pharmacist, they could tell you for sure. I'm adding a link to the drug interactions checker. It is a very handy tool.

.5 mg. of Xanax equals 20 mg. of Serax. Xanax 'kicks in' a lot quicker than Serax, and is definitely noticeable when it grabs hold, while Serax is slower to work, and more mellow, but both are relatively short-acting compared to Valium. Take 2mg. of Xanax and it hits fairly hard and goes away hard, and leaves a "hangover" feeling. Take 80mg. of Serax and it's easy all the way. 4mg. of Xanax feels like a mini-Quaalude to me?! So, I'd have to say that Xanax is a lot heavier than Serax, but I'd rather stay with Serax. Xanax can mess you up quick and be a whole lot harder to kick too.

yes. the only drugs it is dangerous to mix with ativan is any medications that could slow down your heartrate and breathing (like another benzo or a tranquilizer). this could increase the risk that you'd stop breathing, but it is fine to take aspirin. (I've been on ativan for three years)

1, you only need one xanax to relieve any symptoms of anxiety. If you are taking it to get high you will not feel any high it will only make you drowsey. If you are already mellow or relaxed this will do nothing or just put you to sleep. But to answer your question you only need one to feel the relief of anxiety. People die every year from overdosing on Xanax so if you take to many you can have an overdose and die.

With any drug you should always use precaution when mixing for the first time. Atenelol and Ativan can interact but it is highly unlikely. I am currently prescribed both and have not encountered a problem.

They are both addictive-they are a schedule #4 drug,which means out of a schedule from 1-5 they are considered to be one of the least addictive,but with my prior experience with both-I find that Xanax is more addictive-this is a quick acting benzodiazapine,where ativan is a long active-they are both nerve pills,but ativan is also an antisiezure medication as well. Xanax if you take large amounts or have been taking it for a long period of time-the withdrawl does include seizures,and believe me I've had em!!!

Actually, you can but you must consider if you really need both of these medications at the same time. If the hospital gives you ativan (lorazeoam) for anxiety etc and you become sick they will admister phenegran (promethazine). A hospital is able to observe and intervene in any server circumstances. Now if you decide you do actually need both of these medications, please be aware that they both cause decreased respiratory and CNS function so you will need to keep these monitered. If the lorazepam makes you sick, get another prescription. But over all to answer your question, yes you can take them together.

Caffeine (one dose = 2 tablets = 2 cups of coffee)

Ritalin is a stimulant medication. Some people will be able to handle taking Ritalin along with extra caffeine in their diet (on top of any caffeine-based drinks they already intake - coffee, soda, Red Bull and other various energy drinks).

Note: There is always the option of matching whatever dose of acetaminophen and aspirin you would be taking from the Excedrin, and leaving out the extra caffeine.

I would refer you to the website benzo.org.uk for the work of Professor Heather Ashton and her manual "The Ashton Manual"; this publication can be read or downloaded for free from that website. She is a world-authority on the subject. I have read that some of the withdrawal symptoms can last up to 1-2 years, and in rare situations never completely resolve. There are many other websites with information on this subject. Unfortunately, the drug manufacturers and prescribing doctors have a pathetic lack of information on the harm this drug can cause and how to withdraw safely, and are woefully ignorant of the hell one can go through when withdrawing from this medication, even from very small doses. It is a very hard process to go through, but one that can be done safely with the right information. You will be much healthier in the long-run for going through this--however, it is not easy. Most important, do not quick cold turkey, but taper very slowly. It is imperative to get accurate information from those who have been through this process. I was talking Clomid and Zoloft the first cycle and did not get pregnant. Talking more to my doctor she said to stop taking the Zoloft. The pharmacy says that Zoloft lowers your ability to get pregnant.

If you are toleant opiod attic then it juss makes your methadone stronger.. They actually make each other stronger.. If you dont use opiates dont even think of taking methadone its strong enough to kill by its self mixed with ativan that would be a death waiting to happen... If your opiate tolerant and used to methadone specially then hvae fun it makes both drugs better,stronger and more fun.. Always remember to be carefull anyways and to know your limits on what you yourself can handle

OTC sleep aids with diphenhydramine will throw a false positive for benzos on an EMIT machine if you take a lot of them. There are a couple of things that will do it, but when you show a false positive it'll be on a dip stick test or an EMIT machine--a GC/MS can tell between benzos and non-benzos.

In regular drug-test for jobs or at home drug test it will show up as a benzodiazepine, BUT if you are on probation or its an extended drug test and they send it into a lab they can tell the difference between the chemical makeup of the drug xanax is alprazolam and ativan is lorazepam. so basically if your urine gets sent to a lab then you will fail. oh and also xanax can show up as a false positive for oxazepam it happend to me recently
